I learned that 95% of peace corps volunteers have a bachelors degree or higher but if you have a least 5 years of professional experience you can also qualify. They are still taking applications for after Covid #uchangestheworld @PeaceCorps @weller_world

I learned from AmeriCorps that they have perks such as paying for college and loans, programs and services for after graduation and freedom of choice for your place to live for a year. More than 80,000 Americans join each year! #ucchangestheworld @AmeriCorps @weller_world

I learned from UC Engineers Without Borders that you don’t have to be an engineering student to participate in this program. They are looking for more organizational leadership and education majors to help out with a variety of tasks #ucchangestheworld @EWB_UC @weller_world

I learned that 60% of the world’s working poor are women (330 million). Many of them are living with little to no rights and can’t work traditional jobs. They have found that earning a living wage through crafting offers a better life #ucchangestheworld @Villages @weller_world

Another interesting thing I found motivating was that Anthony graduated with a chemical engineering degree but thorough his experiences with peace corps he was able to find his passion for epidemiology #ucchangestheworld @YaleSPH @uofcincyalumni @weller_world

One thing I found interesting about Anthony Russel was that the entire time on his peace corps volunteer trip, he was able to thrive and function without electricity or running water the entire time he was there. #ucchangestheworld @YaleSPH @uofcincyalumni @weller_world

In Josephine’s clinic presentation, they have immensely improved since 2018 on women who have been exposed to sex trafficking, violence, and abuse. They have increasing volunteers and it is a local Cincinnati based organization #ucchangestheworld @JosephinesCincy @weller_world

One thing I found interesting in the spring film was that Scott threw a party in New York City for his birthday and took all 700 people’s money to a refugee camp in northern Uganda. Built wells and and began charity water #ucchangestheworld @charitywater @weller_world

I found it interesting in the safe drinking water program presentation from P & G that they can take water contaminated with bacteria, dirt, viruses etc and filter it to perfectly clean water within just 5 minutes. #ucchangestheworld @ProcterGamble #ForceForGood @weller_world

I found it interesting from the Soteni presentation that in Kenya and the local area she stayed at, about 1 in 4 people have aids. There is also a cultural stigma that they don’t want to get tested by medical professionals on their disease #ucchangestheworld @SOTENI @weller_world
