Meet the world's rarest wild dog. Fewer than 500 survive.
The Ethiopian wolf spends its days hunting giant mole rats in the highlands of Ethiopia.
But researchers recently documented something nobody expected: after a hunt, the wolves wander into fields of red hot poker flowers and lick the nectar like ice cream cones.
One individual visited 30 flowers in a single trip. Pollen covered its muzzle with every visit.
It's the first large carnivore ever documented feeding on nectar. And it may make the Ethiopian wolf the first known large predator to also act as a pollinator.
Is it time to expand our definition of 'pollinator'?

This Western Australian shrub is the most unforgettable Lamiaceae plant I've ever seen. The whole florescence is covered in a layer of fine hair, which makes it feel soft and fluffy, dotted with cute little purple or white flowers. What an interesting combination!

España cuenta con el mayor número de especies vegetales de todos los países europeos.
Sin embargo, casi una tercera parte de su flora tiene algún rango de peligro o amenaza por desaparición.
