#NewSpecies alert on #FrogFriday! 🐸
Say hello to Amnirana parva, a „new“ ranid frog from West Africa.
Formerly known as widespread A. albolabris, @GFMJongsma and colleagues showed in 2018 that the population from the Upper Guinea forest forms a totally different clade. (1)

Hey #frog people!
If you are using @inaturalist, please feel invited to the new „Frogs in Amplexus“ project!
We try to collect all amplexi, (to be) recorded on iNat. So please add your future amplexus observations, or such that you help identifying/correcting. #amphibians
"Movimos un congreso al otro lado del mundo para impedir discriminación de visas"
Los congresos "mundiales" en países con restricciones de visas (UK, Canadá, Europa, EEUU) excluyen investigadores del sur global
Son "mundiales" solo en el papel
Nota de Nature que discute problema con claridad: https://t.co/1R8vdNDLju
New paper in @Nature led by @PatriceEcoEvo! We demonstrated global vulnerability of amphibians to warming, threatening 10% of >5,000 species examined. How did we do it? | https://t.co/Sq7YMaC8NP | See thread🧵
@crocutamatata On one hand, that’s sounds crazy indeed, on the other hand, do they live in the same biome/sympatric? Bc I think especially as naturalists we should not refer to national borders as units in any way… in a far utopy all animal species could live in one single „country“ 🤷🏼♂️
👀Blog post out now!👀
🐟Korbinian Pacher explains how striped marlin groups hunt schools of sardine and opens our eyes to the endless possibilities of studying behavioural ecology in the open ocean, using aerial vehicles!🎥

@Stachel_Jochen
Never before have I seen a frog so fake looking.
I imagine this is what it would look like if a regular tree frog could experience the uncanny valley.
Tapichalaca treefrog (Hyloscirtus tapichalaca)
Sadly, it is only known from the Tapichalaca Biological Reserve in Ecuador.
Check out our new paper with cool results on a by-product mutualism in group hunting striped marlin! The study is based on my masters and is now published in @FunEcology! For more info and a cool video check thread below and find the paper here: https://t.co/AMZ58XqMHM
