AI has dramatically accelerated how software is written. But speed was never the real bottleneck.
Despite LLMs, The Mythical Man-Month is still surprisingly relevant. Not because of how code is produced, but because of what actually slows software down: coordination, shared understanding, and conceptual integrity.
AI makes code cheap. It does not make software design, architecture, integration, or alignment free.
In fact, faster code generation can amplify old problems:
* Incoherent abstractions appear sooner
* Integration costs surface later
* “We’re almost done” illusions become stronger
What matters more than ever is strong architecture, clear intent, and technical leadership. The modern leverage point is not the fastest coder, but the person who can frame problems well, guide AI output, and preserve system coherence.
A modern version of Brooks’ Law might be: "Adding more AI to a late or poorly defined project makes it confusing faster."
AI changes the tools. It doesn’t repeal the laws of software engineering.
Many devs don't write automated tests cause clients don't give time/budget for that.
Guess what.
Client will NEVER pay for testing as extra "service".
Do you pay extra for testing at a car repair? Or when you buy a new phone?
You *ASSUME* it's tested and reliable, right?
So yeah, in your work, you need to budget the time accordingly, to proper test your work.
It's part of your duty INCLUDED in price, if you do things properly.
Some pretty cool stuff has shipped in Laravel over the last two weeks. 💪
First, a new Http::batch() method allows you to make concurrent HTTP requests while also attaching callbacks to be invoked on progress, failure, completion, and more.

"There is no limit. If I could start late, with no degree, no English language, no connections, and end up here, then you can too."
The Laravel Community is full of stories from incredible people who build amazing things.
One key thing I've learned about habit building is that following the routine is more important than knocking it out of the park each time. Even a horrible, short workout when you're feeling off is worth it... if only because you don't break the pattern.
Today, I'm working on a system for AI-generated translations for all new Laracasts videos.
It's a little tricky to implement and automate, but I think I have something working. First up is Spanish. Then, maybe French, German, Hindi?
I fell into this trap years ago. You can become too over confident by the tests and let go of that process of “what if…” that is essential to a good development.
(Once you write tests each “what if” scenario will ultimately become a regression test)
La tecnología es cambio.
Si el cambio te emociona, amarás trabajar en tech.
Pero si te causa incertidumbre y angustia, sufrirás cada día.
No, nada te garantiza que tu conocimiento de hoy te servirá mañana.
Nada.
Toca aprender, sin parar, siempre.
A mi me encanta.
🥧 ¡Feliz día Pi! 😊🥧
