Many of us of course never thought we would ever get to this point after numerous false starts on the last green paper! The danger is if we do not answer the 2 questions above properly, the progress, change and ambition in this paper won't happen, which would be a great shame
The questions for all politicians and policymakers today are: how can we get more money fairly into the social care system to deliver the change set out in white paper? how can we build a workforce to deliver the care and ambition set out in the white paper?
The fundamental problem with the plans really is 2 fold (+ not difficult to see). How can these changes happen without more investment and where are the workforce to deliver the care needed, particularly as needs are set to rise?
Things to like: some transformation funding, improved use of data, public engagement + better information, greater assurance, some workforce funding and improving how we measure service quality by listening to people who use/deliver services
Quick🧵on social care white paper. There is lots to like and it is clear that Ministers and officials have used their listening exercise to capture important elements of what matters to people who use social care and their carers: https://t.co/JEAdvOLRVa #socialcare
.@rcsloggett spoke to @StephenNolan on the Government's social care plans and using NI to fund social care reform. An NI rise can deliver the funds required, has precedence from early 2000s and can underpin the changes and transformation needed: https://t.co/hbTbU6L6zE
.@sajidjavid needs to balance a set of difficult and competing stakeholders to succeed in post. My piece for @HSJnews sets out the three most important early battles he needs to manoeuvre through: https://t.co/jxvnopI0EE (1/5)
Great to see some positive action at last week's G7 on vaccines, AMR, digital health and health security. Really pleased to see some of our recommendations with @KingsThinkTank authors taken forward, such as WHO governance improvements and digital health recommendations (1/3)
Including promoting open standards for health data through GDHP and working towards the mutual acceptance of Covid certificates. Full G7 communique is here: https://t.co/o9FyHSBANa (2/3)

Great to see more people working in the healthcare sector. There are huge opportunities for the sector to be a core part of our economic and jobs recovery. Read more on the opportunity from @rcsloggett https://t.co/UZQSiYSqL1
