Attended the “Meet & Greet” community gathering for Shri @GurjeetSAujla, 3rd term MP (Lok Sabha) from Punjab, India, at Allure function centre, Blacktown NSW. Good job, Manoj Sheoran @manojsheoran_, president of Indian Overseas Congress, Australia and his team for organising this meeting. It’s a good idea to interact with visiting Indian leaders.
Attended Diwali celebration organised by @m_culturalnsw & hosted by the Premier of NSW @ChrisMinnsMP & minister of multiculturalism @SteveKamperMP at @MCA_Australia Good to see @markcourelive MP, leader of opposition @MarkSpeakman MP and many friends there. It was wonderful to see the sails of the Opera House lit with Diwali colours.
City of Parramatta council boss in talks to exit early with hefty payout. This article by @anthonysegaert chronicles a list of serious issues inside/about @parracity council. The council needs to get its house in order and deal with the issues transparently & fairly. https://t.co/7jXBwbf4TU
The real-time testing of 000 connectivity across all carriers must be enforced. During outage with any telco, a mechanism must be in place to ensure 000 calls go through other carriers. @anikawells@MGrahMcIntosh@AlboMP@sussanley https://t.co/jmIjx8EytK
#MarchForAustralia organizers & participants have their democratic right to do what they are doing, but targeting a specific ethnic group (Indians) is not on. Doing that may sound racist and may encourage racism including potential attacks against Indians. Indians have generally arrived here as skilled migrants and contribute to Australia in multiple ways including taking part in economic activities and paying taxes. Indians generally are education-loving, peace-loving & law-abiding people and integrate well in the society while also taking rightful pride in their family and culture. Finally, Indians, like others, want a respectful & meaningful debate & discussion about the quality and size of the race-neutral migration program involving political, community and economic stakeholders. @AlboMP@sussanley@Charlton_AB@MRowlandMP@JulianLeeser@AlexHawkeMP@ChrisMinnsMP@MarkSpeakman
1/n. It's good to see the diversity of views, which speak for western Sydney, but the voices of the people/residents should be part of it too (as part of the consultations & views). https://t.co/YbIw4guDUE https://t.co/YbIw4guDUE
My interview with @TellingRavindra about 40 yrs long prison sentence to former OFBJP Australia president Balesh Dhankhar, who was convicted for multiple rapes in Sydney. https://t.co/NSar3fvuK6
It was a privilege and an utmost pleasure that I was invited to address the board of @ABCaustralia at their 2nd Sydney HQ in Parramatta NSW today. I was able to give my insight & suggestions directly to the board under the able leadership of the chair Mr Kim Williams AM. I was also interviewed by @abcnews for the morning program followed by attending the official launch of ABC’s 2nd HQ by Prime Minister @AlboMP in presence of the communication minister @MRowlandMP. In attendance were Premier of NSW Chris Minns, treasurer of NSW @dmookheyMLC, Parramatta MP @Charlton_AB and @parracity mayor Martin Zaiter.
Sydney daycare centre torched in antisemitic attack. It's not on. Premier @ChrisMinnsMP, these lowlives must be caught and punished. @NSWJBD@david_ossip. Indian Australians are in full solidarity with Jewish Australians & demand concrete actions. https://t.co/E6gpfdCqOb
Indians lured to Russia are dying on the front lines in Ukraine. @narendramodi @DrSJaishankar should get every Indian out of the war theatre between Russia & Ukraine. It’s not India & Indians’ war. https://t.co/9r4LY4bk6G
This article https://t.co/vYZQ6yxQ5J in @GuardianAus by @BenDohertyCorro & @Rachwani91 is imbalanced & alarmist, and reeks of an agenda to malign the Indian diaspora in Australia. People from the Hindu community and other religious communities which they mentioned in the article have a freedom to form groups based on their schools/universities (India or Australia), language, religion or state of origin from India. They all do such activities. That’s permitted and shows diversity. Caste-based discrimination in Australia is imaginary, artificially manufactured & certainly exaggerated. No diaspora is perfect and ours is not an exception, but selectively maligning Indian diaspora is unfair and wrong. It’s not a good journalism either to speak with only a few from the community who always have an agenda to malign the diaspora and India, and not do a proper & objective investigation before publishing such articles.
