also: we’re almost there! I’m in awe and grateful for anyone who took the time to retweet/share/participate in this. I do not take this for granted at all and genuinely appreciate it. Thank you/shukran/merci/danke🫶🏼
If American English is one of your native languages, please take a few minutes to answer this questionnaire for my Master’s thesis. I would like to never cite a reference again, please help me finish. 😄

On a language learner side note: I’m super happy that I understood almost everything and hopefully at some point I become fluent in German just enough to contribute to these exciting discussions 🤩
A couple of days ago I picked up this book by @cpearl42 and I’m just so so in love.🥰 A year and a half ago I felt frustrated thinking about how my focus on pragmatics research can be useful outside of academia, but I’m now learning that there is so much that I can contribute to.
A week ago I finished the last paper for my Master’s coursework. I generally don’t feel like academic research is one of my strengths but I’m not even mad because I have never even so emotionally invested in a paper like I was with this one. Dis is my lil baby.
Went back to Egypt for nearly a whole month. One thought I had nagging at my brain was that I am a Mediterranean baby and that I need to remember this anytime someone suggests we swim in Berlin’s filthy Spree 😵💫
@FrauenLoop Absolutely. I was flat out told by a female manager who clearly did not like me that “my problem is that I am Egyptian and my face looks dominant and that there’s nothing that I can do about it”.
I need someone who managed to get their Master’s degree while working full-time to tell me that it’s doable and that it’s all going to be okay. Finished all my coursework and have just one exam left + the thesis and this feels like the hardest part. 😭
@BayesForDays I had the same exact experience in Hungary! My partner used to live there and was conversing so easily with the locals and my brain was just all??? I generally use Duolingo to learn basic sentences but it’s rarely helpful since the content is mostly “the cat ate the rabbit” etc☹️
This week I stumbled across a community of Women in Voice that I had no idea existed and realized that it’s way bigger than I thought! How incredibly exciting! As someone out of academia, I honestly cannot wait to connect with and learn from other women in the industry. 🌿💖
