Antony Starr says that AI in movies is horrible.
“‘AI] is coming no matter what’ bla bla bla… Recent movies have proven that people want human stories. Not big ridiculous VFX-driven nonsense
Ever tried to go to an Al movie premiere? The cast are horrible and they hate their human fans.”
@bbcquestiontime@BBCiPlayer@BBCNews Dreadful. Championing a technology that is unethical, uses copyrighted materials from thousands of creatives without permission, and is damaging the creative industries and the environment.
Generative AI doesn’t run on magic. It runs on massive data pipelines built on privacy violations by design.
Our new @Amnesty report exposes how big tech’s AI systems are powered by surveillance, data extraction, and abuse of people’s rights, at scale.
We researched the models powering some of the most popular publicly available standalone generative AI tools, including GPT 3 by Open AI, Google’s Gemini, Meta’s Llama, DeepSeek and tools by Midjourney and Stable Diffusion.
This is not innovation at any cost. It comes at a high price: our human rights.

A Chinese court has ruled it illegal to replace human workers with AI purely for the sake of cost-cutting.
The court decided that companies hold a social responsibility to treat workers fairly and pay them what they're worth.
@jameygannon Someone who thinks that speed & volume are the only important factors in Music production does not deserve to be interviewed. You’ll just attract an audience that doesn’t care about what it listens to..
@pt5films Animation and CGI don’t involve large scale exploitation of copyrighted work. And to the pro AI ppl still using the term ‘Gatekeeping’ - how many rags to riches stories of musicians do you need??!
@OlivioSarikas You’ve argued ure point respectfully, but the biggest infringement of copyright in history, a tech that poses grave danger 2 mental health, ppl’s civil liberties, Nat security, environment, all in the hands of the richest ppl on earth, lobbying gov’mnts -not same as the tractor.
@OlivioSarikas You were talking about resistance to AI tech though? I was explaining why there is resistance. Earlier tech wasn’t called unethical -there was resistance initially, but your comparison makes light of the huge ethical problems AI has created. Yes, the courts will decide!
@OlivioSarikas Sorry but the comparison doesn’t stand. The technologies you mentioned didn’t help steal everyone’s IP & then try to compete with the original at scale. Ppl are angry about AI because it’s seen as unethical, & billionaire class attempt to control.
@OlivioSarikas Usually the cost of new tech acts as a barrier, but that’s not necessarily a deliberate attempt to ‘Gatekeep’. Eg the 1st stereo sampler launched a million careers..How were Akai ‘acting as if the own the place’? It opened doors! Generalisations- poor attempt to understand
