☀️ Help us get "Every Child Outdoors" by donating to fund outdoor learning for children who can’t afford school trips. 🌱
🌳 Right now, too many children are missing out on the simple opportunity to learn and explore outdoors. Nearly half of children in the UK miss school trips because of the cost - that's 4.5 million lost chances to connect with nature. 🐞
📚️ We believe outdoor learning shouldn’t be a privilege. It should be part of every child’s education. ⛰️
🙂 Your contribution can help remove financial barriers and ensure more children can take part in life-changing experiences outside the classroom.

We’re excited to be supporting this year’s @The_GA Festival of Fieldwork 🎉
Throughout June, we’ll be celebrating geography in action by bringing our learner community to life through data, stories, and real-world experiences.
Here’s what we’ll be doing:
📍 Mapping our learners: using GIS to create a live visual of where our geography learners are exploring
📸 Capturing fieldwork in action: our teachers will be sharing photos from their fieldwork at our UK locations
🗺️ Connecting it all: linking these images to our interactive map to showcase fieldwork experiences
🏅 Celebrating participation: teachers will receive a certificate for completing fieldwork this month
We can’t wait to see our shared map grow and highlight the power of fieldwork in bringing geography to life.

Earlier this month at @FSCNettlecombe, in Somerset students took part in our A Level Skills for the Independent Investigation course, a geography fieldwork course designed to prepare them for their Non-Exam Assessment (NEA) and beyond.
We spoke to their teacher, who was visiting the centre for the fifth time. He recognises the value of combining expert fieldwork teaching with a residential experience in a new environment.
Paul explained some of the further reaching benefits he sees when attending a residential with us:
“Social confidence, a sense of belonging in a large cohort, and environmental awareness - understanding the diversity of the UK.”

Why does sedge identification matter? Sedges play a key role in habitat classification and can act as important indicator species across a range of environments. Accurate identification supports:
🌾Habitat assessment
🌾Ecological surveys
🌾Conservation decision-making
However, they are often seen as one of the more challenging plant groups to identify in the field. Our new Sedges guide has been developed to support ecologists and surveyors with clear, practical identification features.
This is the last chance to get our new Sedges AIDGAP at a reduced price of £20 (regular RRP £25). UK mainland orders are also currently applicable for free postage on publication orders of £30 or more.

⏳ Step back in time
Could the past hold the key to understanding the present? 🤔
At our History Camp, young people aged 16–18 will explore some of the UK’s most fascinating locations. From castles and ancient settlements to industrial heritage sites, uncover the stories that shaped them.
You’ll piece together history through real-world experiences, develop new skills, and meet like-minded people along the way. No prior experience needed, just curiosity and enthusiasm!

Aquatic and wetland habitats are among our most fascinating landscapes 👌
This July we will be exploring wetland plants, learning how to identify key species and tell close lookalikes apart through close inspection and field skills.
Same course, 'Native Plants of Ponds and Marshes', two locations:
@FSCSlaptonLey, Devon: Tuesday 7th July to Thursday 9th July
@FSCFlatfordMill, Suffolk: Monday 20th July to Wednesday 22nd July
Both sites are at their best in mid‑summer, when wetlands are full of life and detail.

Today, we’re launching our "Every Child Outdoors" campaign.
Every child deserves the chance to connect with nature, but nearly half of children are missing out on school trips due to the cost.
A residential trip can be transformational in so many ways, building resilience and confidence, improving communication and teamwork skills, and making new connections with their peers and with the natural world.
A donation to our appeal will help us say yes to more requests for support from schools needing funded places to access outdoor education.
“Seeing my students thrive outdoors has transformed my perspective. I’ve witnessed increased confidence, teamwork, and curiosity in ways that don’t always surface in the classroom.” - Teacher
