A year ago Maiden crossed the finish line of a gruelling 33,000 miles and became the the FIRST all-female crew crew to EVER WIN an around the world race. Don't remember it? Maybe they should have worn make up and tight fitting blue jumpsuits....… @maidenfactor#SaveWomensSports
Did you know the Mona Lisa has a twin?
You don't realize how bad a state it's in until you see the two side-by-side.
And it shows why restorations in art are a major problem… (thread) 🧵

It took 8 GP visits over 6 weeks before Ruby was diagnosed with cancer
By the 4th visit (the day after we saw the Spice Girls) I suspected she had a tumour in her chest - it’s what Google threw up after I typed in her symptoms
The GP smiled & said ‘Not in a 17 year old’

But it’s also absolutely critical that GPs know what to look out for and - crucially - take parent concerns seriously.
NICE guidance on referral for childhood cancer tests states that prolonged parental concern should be a key factor in deciding when to refer.

She’d had a blood test, but lymphoma doesn’t show up in a standard blood test - it lurks in the lymph nodes meaning you need an X-ray or scan to identify it.
Lots of emphasis is put on parents knowing what to look out for, which is certainly important.

In this photo you can clearly see a raised lymph node in her neck. This is a key symptom of lymphoma.
But of course it’s also a symptom of many other less serious illnesses.

As we come to the end of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, I wanted to reshare these photos of Ruby, at the beach, 2 weeks before her diagnosis
She’d been poorly for a few weeks & the various doctors we’d seen were sure her symptoms were due to allergies.

This 500-year-old portrait may seem ordinary, but it's one of the most mysterious in history.
There's so much detail that you can read every musical note on this small page.
But look closer — an unsettling secret is hiding in plain sight... 🧵
