For those who’s not yet seen it (and are in the UK), ‘Quo Vadis, Aida?,’ one of the most powerful and moving films about what happened in Srebrenica, is currently on the BBC iPlayer and will be there - and free to watch - for another month.
Yesterday and this morning I've had lots of calls about hedgehogs seen out during the day.
Please make no mistake, this is an emergency.
A hedgehog out in the day is seriously ill and needs 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 treatment from a rescue (never a vet).
These are hedgehogs who have risen from hibernation too early, because there wasn't enough natural food around in the autumn for them to gain sufficient fat to make it through hibernation until the spring.
There's NO natural food around now, so they've been forced to eat contaminated parasite-laden food like slugs, and are now critically ill.
As a stage of dying they've become hypothermic so are seeking warmth and are often seen on roads, car parks, paving and paths, as these surfaces hold the the sun's heat longer than soil or grass.
Feeding them won't fix them.
They need treatment URGENTLY.
Please take them straight to a good rescue.

Thank you VERY MUCH and love you for celebrating me @melissasigodo. ❤️💛💚Becoming a TV reporter in Britain was a highlight of my lifelong journalistic career. I wasn't 'fired'. After 9 months the station did not renew my contract, saying I 'didn't fit in with the program'.
#Austerity - when push comes to shove - is about personal, social and community pain. You can spin this anyway you wish, but bottom line is that the pain delivered to 450,000 citizens will only see a return on 10,000 jobs.
Tory cuts continue.

The censorship algorithm has reduced our audience by roughly 95%, and seriously, who does that to a wildlife advocacy group ?
You can help by retweeting, liking and following. If we're going to preserve what few wild places remain, we need you to get involved.

Trump’s comments yesterday that immigrants had bad genes that made them “criminals’ is right out of the fascist playbook. Hitler said the same about Jews. This disgraceful man should be nowhere near the Presidency.
Benjamin Zephaniah’s name resonates with power, passion, and profound poetry. His life and works are a testament to the enduring power of the written word and the impact of a committed activist’s voice. #BlackHistoryMonth#ReclaimingNarratives
This is the sort of place your helium birthday balloons end up when you let them go, or worse still, in the oceans where there's a good chance they'll end up in the belly of a whale, a turtle or a seabird. Dispose of them responsibly, please! 🙏 @N_T_S@mcsuk

Two dear little hedgehogs, who were brought into a rescue I mentor, and who were expertly nursed back to health and released, were found dead yesterday.
Poisoned.
The devastated finder had no idea that compost bins are dangerous to animals (and can be to humans too) and should always be kept closed to prevent animals having access.
Decomposing organic matter in a compost bin can contain fungi which produce neurotoxins called tremorgenic mycotoxins.
These naturally occurring substances are highly toxic to both humans and animals.
Although the contents are deadly, the invertebrates the compost attracts make it very inviting to the insectivore hedgehog, who trusts it as a source of food and shelter.
The compost bin will be particularly attractive during the winter as it can provide a warm dry place to nest.
Very few people realise that consuming even a small amount of compost containing these mycotoxins can be deadly, and there is no cure for this poisoning.
Often people who find unexplained dead hedgehogs in their garden have no idea it was their open compost bin which was to blame.
⚠ If you or your neighbours have a compost bin, please ensure it is safe and inaccessable to wildlife, and your pets.

There's a worrying trend of 'shoulder surfers' swiping mobiles from people's hands while they're unlocked.
Hopefully you won't be a victim of phone theft, but don't wait till it's too late – make sure your banking apps and personal info are secure ⬇️

My ex wasn’t a cheerleader of mine. He told me regularly my twitter was crap & no one cared. Sorry to ask this but he’s been negging me massively again this week-if you’ve ever seen one of my photos or tweets & it lifted your mood or made you feel a bit less alone, maybe say hi? x
