Arsenal are undertaking a much-needed revamp of their midfield this summer.
Martín Zubimendi raises the standards and Christian Nørgaard adds dependable depth. Some have bemoaned the arrival of the latter because he’s not a young and exciting midfield prospect. But Nørgaard needn't prevent the club from making that signing; if anything, he preserves Arsenal's opportunity to make a swing for one in the medium term.
That's why they should lay the groundwork now to sign Ayyoub Bouaddi next summer.
Bouaddi is the type of prospect that Real Madrid or the new-age Paris Saint-Germain would buy to continually replenish their stocks of talent. Indeed, he's the type of prospect that Arsenal have bought before. See: William Saliba, a highly-rated teenager, ahead of the curve in their development, breaking through in Ligue 1. This is how you stay at the top, you buy the very best emerging talent to supplement and ultimately supersede what you already have.
Arsenal’s previous five midfield signings have been aged 31, 24, 28, 26 and 31, and four of them are at the club currently. The next signing should be younger; the next signing should be Ayyoub Bouaddi.

Most of the people I see complaining about game content updates, DLC, seasons are guys who play the game for hours and hours and hours a day.
The rest of us get to play it for an hour or two every few days. The level of content, progression and challenge are great.
The game is not designed for people who play it for FOUR HUNDRED HOURS in one season. It’s aimed at the other 99%.
This is not just a Marathon tweet.
Actually bummed Marathon’s “wipe” completely missed what made playing Season 1 special. So many mentions about trying to capture that Season 1 fresh start magic, yet purple’s & golds are already in the mix. Doesn’t help they’re throwing out some of these kits too.
I put in hoursss before purps & golds started to show up, so did many others. The progression in loot felt very good. I don’t think I’ll come close to playing 400hrs for Season 2. This just an early reaction, first impressions to the wipe.
I’d love a PSG window of Kroupi, Bouaddi, Diomande, bringing back Moscardo to help in midfield (and defence where he’s been playing often for Braga). If we could add Methalie as the LB cover/development project then we’re golden.
A lot to ask? Maybe.
But could be funded in part by sales of Ramos, Lee, Muani, Sanches, maybe Hernandez, maybe even Zabarnyi and Chevalier (although I’d love both of the latter two to stay).
I’ve ranked every PSG player from the 25/26 season in a tier list, based on performance vs expectations.
Some obvious calls.
Some very uncomfortable ones
