The CCI people I have met are good people. They do not idolize their preacher. I have seen several videos of his teaching and I think they are preaching the scriptures. I don't think they fit in this narrative you are putting them.

Building Brimble is the hardest thing i've done in my life and to be honest I am kind of suprised to see it's still standing, it's so crazy because we don't support local builders enough and if it's in S.F it's the other way round

1) You get constantly compared to vercel/railway and it's sad because if you want to get people in this space to use it to you need to ship features to the quality they have already set (either same quality or you go higher)

2) After shipping almost the same quality, local users here still force you to make decisions by cutting cost of your product, just because you want them to use it and at the end of the day, you still get compared and you even have no choice.

3) I and abraham have been constantly bootstrapping the product for the last 4 years, so we only scale on demand. We don't have the luxury to throw money into compute unncessarily.

4) There were different iterations of the product just to get PMF, the directions changed about 2-3 times between the years.

5) oh fine, "enterprise" has the money. But at the same time, you need a good amount of money to get the licenses to support enterprise and at the same time, some enterprise will look down on you especially when it's just 2 engineers managing the product, ever since we got the idea in 2022.
You do performance and security audits yourself, you need to be extremely stable (just with a team of 2 and after all that, you still get compared. It's very much fine, but nobody gives a damn)

6) Brimble literally has everything (databases, sandboxes, fullstack deployments, autoscaling, static outbound ips e.t.c). Strived to succeed

7) You are also trying to pitch to investors, in a case where some of them don't have a clue or the nuances involved in what you are building. The best everyone has to do is support local products, supporting local products even gives you as a user a ton of advantage. You control the type of features you want, the prices is very affordable for you, you'd get the maximum support you need without having to send emails or wait for 3 business days to get feedbacks.
A few angels really believes in the vision and fingers crossed, really love it.

But at the end of the day, it still seems you aren't good enough for people to use you.

I'm extremely grateful for people that took all of these out of their mind to actually support us in terms of using the product end to end. Sharing reasonable feedbacks and also sticking around even when it had issues.

If i have the opportunity to do this again, i would peacefully decline.

Maybe I should tell you guys the story of how I was poached by this AI company to be their Head of Marketing.

What would I be marketing?

An AI data center and and the first fully AI radio station in the world.

Oya, where the data center? “The equipment is on its way.”

How far the radio station?

“The transmitter and license one thing one thing. Don’t worry, keep doing the background work so that when we’re ready to go live…”

Oya now.

Month 1, I no see budget. Dem no on radio. Data center still dey empty but dem buy bicycles for the company. Dem say funding Dey come from the US “anytime from now.”

Okay na.

Salary day reach. Nothing about salary. They said they were working on opening the company account.

I was so confused.

A month and a half don pass. I don drive go island 3 times a week. Na so I stop to Dey go.

All of a sudden, founder calls a meeting and goes on about how we’re not showing the right attitude to work.

I confuse again.

I had to go read my employment letter again, make e no be say I sign to work for free 😂

Dem say salary go drop the next day but make I please accept a renegotiation. Dem reduce 3M to 1M. 😂

I like the project. Oya, bring!

I come give them conditions.
Employ CTO, employ CD. I don do strategy, GTM… everything. Give me sth to market ffs.

Dem say make I recommend. I brought my guy on board as CD. He then employed his own creative team.

One random day, I got to the office and saw like 25 new faces and cubicles.

Ahn ahn, wetin Dey sup? Dem say dem don employ “AI Agents”.

I confuse again.

One week later, these guys haven’t done jack. I asked what was going on and they said they were waiting for ME TO ACTIVATE THEM.

I first burst laugh. Activate you on what? With what? To do exactly what?

Next thing, CEO say dem Dey send me, business lead and our robotics guy (that hadn’t done a single thing for 4 months) go Morocco for GITEX.)

I didn’t even know we had a robotics team. Wetin dem Dey do? 🤣🤣🤣

Anyway, free trip? Bring!

We reach Morocco, dem no send money for hotel or food. I say I don die 🤣🤣🤣

Hotel hold our passport for 4 days 🤣

Saxophone never even loud at this point😭

Abeg remove CCI from this. Pastor Iren himself has on many occasions called out those overzealous members doing those weird things back then. He has never made himself a god. His teachings are also consistent with God’s word. His wife also called out some of them here on twitter

African founders are travelling across the world to raise money, find customers, and convince investors that serious technology can be built here.

Our governments should be making those conversations easier.

Why does it feel like the founders are doing all the work?

When countries show up at global tech conferences, they're competing for investment, partnerships, talent, and attention.

When we don't show up, those conversations still happen.

They just happen without us.

That's what frustrates me.
