Fun optimization: when you open an app on an iPhone, the OS has a hardcoded check for if it’s the camera app, and if so, grants it its own special memory pool (“secluded memory”) for faster start up times: https://t.co/T4lKXnLbRp
@trynothingy I’ve personally had a few instances where I wanted to take a photo of something fast enough before it would’ve went away, and the Camera app being able to open fast enough was my number 1 priority
@trynothingy Yeah, I ^imagine^ that Camera and cameracapture daemon are memory beasts, and consumers probably prioritize taking a photo in time than having YouTube stay on the same video you were watching
@DylangerDaly@bastiengares From what I understand after reading vm_page.c is that secluded memory pages are given priority over normal memory pages (as they have their own queue)
