The pilot of JetBlue Airlines Flight 948 reported striking a drone at approximately 3,000 feet altitude while on final approach to John F. Kennedy International Airport around 7:15 a.m. local time on Monday, June 29. A post-flight inspection did not reveal any damage to the aircraft. The FAA will investigate. Contact the airline for more information.

Estonian Intelligence confirms Starlink and Telegram restrictions disrupted the coordination of Russian troops – Estonian intelligence

As stated by the commander of the Estonian Defense Forces' Intelligence Center, Ants Kiviselg:

▪️ the number of strikes by Russian drones on Ukrainian rear positions has decreased
▪️ the exchange of information between units has slowed down
▪️ the system of command and coordination has been disrupted

This has created opportunities for Ukrainian counterattacks, particularly in the Zaporizhia region, where Russian advances have slowed down and some territories have been recaptured.

At the same time, the intelligence service emphasized that the restrictions have already affected the effectiveness of Russian troops, although there is no talk of a complete collapse of their command system.

You'll have read reports on how badly Russia's economy is doing. Yet they now make *7m shells a year*. Estonia's excellent foreign intel service says: "Given this production growth and substantial imports, Russia is highly likely to be able to replenish part of its strategic artillery ammunition reserves even while engaged in the ongoing war against Ukraine."
Russia also got est 5–7 million rounds from North Korea & Iran. According to Ukrainian assessments, North Korean ammunition accounted for roughly half of all Russian artillery expenditure on the Ukrainian front in the second half of 2025.
Moscow's also ramping up drone production & "training one million specialists and providing UAV-related coursework in 75% of Russian schools by 2030" while NATO, US included, is asleep at the wheel when it comes to drone warfare.

Ukraine's Defense Ministry built a performance-based system for its drone units—and the results are staggering.

The "Army of Drones Bonus" program tracks confirmed kills, destroyed vehicles, and recon missions in real time. Units that deliver get priority access to new equipment. Units that don't, don't.

The 2025 numbers: 820,000 targets hit, 240,000 confirmed kills. Some elite units now strike Russian forces every six minutes.

Birds of Magyar—the top-ranked unit—flew 11,600 sorties in March alone, hitting 5,300 targets in a single month.

"Modern warfare is a war of data, speed, and precise decisions," Defense Minister Fedorov said.

Special Operations Forces concluded that even the most modern APCs can’t do anything against FPVs, and burn as easily as pickup trucks.
In modern combat, the best is not the most complex and expensive technology, but the most protected (even with makeshift means) from UAVs.

Russian forces are increasingly using Starlink satellite systems to extend the range of BM-35 strike drones to conduct mid-range strikes against the Ukrainian rear.

The reported 500-kilometer range of Starlink-equipped BM-35 drones places most of Ukraine, all of Moldova, and parts of Poland, Romania, and Lithuania in range of these drones if launched from Russia or occupied Ukraine. ISW has observed reports of Starlink-equipped Shahed long-range strike drones beginning in September 2024 and of Rubikon equipping Molniya strike drones with Starlink systems beginning in December 2025.

ISW continues to assess that Russian mid-range strikes, especially those conducted by Rubikon units, seek to exploit Ukraine’s scarcity of air defense systems. The threat of Russian mid-range strikes underscores Ukraine’s urgent need for point-defense air defense systems to down drones, as electronic warfare (EW) systems are likely insufficient to defend Ukraine’s critical infrastructure from such a geographically pervasive threat.

The company was only launched in 2024. and is building low-cost autonomous drones.

Today it has been announced that the company has raised a $200m Series B led by Dassault Aviation (the French military manufacturer) at a WHOPPING $1.4bn valuation.

The startup is already working the UK and French defence ministries.

The French have ordered over 1,000 drones while the UK has committed to a “multi-million programme”.

Europe is off to a cracking start.

Ukraine's F-16s just shot down 34 of 35 Russian cruise missiles in a single night.

The secret might be new Sniper targeting pods—they let pilots hunt missiles on infrared without giving away their position.

Even better: the laser-guided rockets they're using cost $35,000 each, compared to $500,000 for standard air-to-air missiles.
