@sonuujjawal26 Because the vaccine was a dose of cow pox……a very very mild disease which left those scars but gave you immunity to smallpox.

The Latin word for cow is vacca, hence the word vaccine which is only really appropriate for the smallpox vaccine but like many words it has travelled!
