One of many teasers I'm editing. @daztibbles added little motion to the a few pages. This is all I have to post while we're waiting for printing to complete. Samples should be coming in a few weeks. In the meantime I'm going to keep editing a bunch of these with dialogue from the novel while mixing shots from the show with the pages from the novel. When we get closer to the release you'll see a BIG push with these teasers. More soon!

How about a sneak peek at our squad all together? :) Also, @daztibbles has started working on concepts for the bonus digital chapters (a little loophole I found) that will be included in the back of the novel.

I'm currently traveling and actually just met with the CEO of the studio interested in licensing Final Space from Warner. They seem genuinely excited about the possibility. I even floated the idea that—if they manage to get the license—maybe, just maybe, we could turn the graphic novel into a feature. Take that with a grain of salt. My focus is finishing the story in the graphic novel. I'm not holding my breath on them getting it out of Warner, but I wanted to remind them that this was—and still is—a big show. It was worth the trip.

I just landed on the West Coast to meet with Matthew, who's helping me get the printer everything they need. I had to resize the pages, which was easy, but we’re now sitting down to go over logistics: shipping, printing, and all the little things I’m still learning. We'll also review the color print file together.

I'm nearly done with the color print file—once that's wrapped, I’ll tackle any final coloring fixes and apply the printer’s notes.

I'm really excited about the progress we’re making. Should have a lot more to share next week!

Wanted to post a video update but I’ve been buried in meetings all day—so here's the quick and dirty rundown:
Been deep in the trenches fine-tuning the Midnight Edition with the printer. Matthew over at @GungnirBooks gave me a great note—said the cover felt kinda... naked. Specifically, that the front, spine, and back needed to feel more connected. He also said I should put my name on the front cover, but that just felt like it cluttered it, so I slapped it on the back instead.
Had @daztibbles rework the cover art—now the shattered glass design flows seamlessly across front, spine, and back. Not a huge change, but visually? Feels way more cohesive. Also a little Mooncake on the spine.

On the print side, I had to resize every single page from 6.878 x 10.438 to 6.626 x 10.189. Sounds small, but it was a pain. Had to figure out how to mass adjust the whole file without going page-by-page in InDesign (truly a cursed program). I finally figured it out. Still waiting to hear back from the printer to see if any more tweaks are needed. I've start to see some samples of the book without print but page weigh and cover. Once it’s all greenlit, applying those changes to the Color Edition should be smooth.
Speaking of—which, the color edition is coming together beautifully. Still tracking down a few final pages from the colorist and making some final tweaks, but seeing all the pages in full color for the first time? It looks AWESOME.
Anyway—most of what I’m dealing with right now is that very specific kind of “boring but kinda exciting” part of the process. Just lots of decisions, adjustments, approvals. Nothing flashy. But it’s forward progress. I almost want to make a list of things people would need to know if they make a graphic novel because I'm learning things that are readily available online. Anyways more soon! I'm hoping to see a printed sample soon! I CAN'T WAIT!

I’m currently in LA for meetings and I’m away from my computer so I don’t have anything spicy to show off. I’ll share something on Monday. With that said, here’s the reaction from my print guy seeing the Midnight Edition print file for the first time. It’s also fun to see people’s first reaction to it. But I’m still waiting on the samples from the printer and I’m up to page 100 in the color print file. It’s looking AWESOME! Signing stickers like crazy. I’m continuing to push this to the finish line one step at a time. -O

Making lots of progress. Coloring on Part 4 is done. Part 3 is done with coloring. Part 1 is getting a few pages polished then will be done. Daz is about 20 pages out from finishing Part 8 and then we'll start the polish pass on a bunch of pages, just to tighten every thing up and make sure nothing is jarring visually. Part 4 is about to get lettered. Still need to finish coloring Part 3 (half way done), 5, 6, 7, and 8 but were making solid progress now. I'm adding a couple pages to emphasis why the coloring is taking so long as you can see there is SOOOOO MUCH happening in a few of these chapters. And to het that level of quality I'm wanting I'm trying to get the artist as much time as possible. It's bonkers! I mean Chapter 6 is 80 pages of that lol
