GM crypto world! My name is Max, and I created this account to track my growth from $10K to $100K in crypto and to see if it’s possible to do that using just airdrops, general opportunities and occasional trading.
Day 23 & 25 of the $30K to $100K in one year challenge (Day 188 & 189 of the $10K to $100K in one year challenge)
My spot bag is doing well, but my short isn't doing well at all. I think, however, that this mechanical, orchestrated pump over the weekend is bound to fully reverse on Monday.
I'm still short $BTC, while being spot long. Not much to update for today. Looking forward to the #UFC event tomorrow.
Have a great weekend!

Day 22 & 23 of the $30K to $100K in one year challenge (Day 186 & 187 of the $10K to $100K in one year challenge)
Alright, bug update today. Two days ago, I got into some longs, and even though I closed my longs prematurely, I never closed my spot $BTC position, and although I got in with half size, that's still progress, so I'll take it.
This spot bag gives me two things:
- a good base to average on top of later ($60,900)
- pretty decent (unrealised) profit so far
Tbh, I hope the bottom is in, so I can claim clout points next cycle that I bought the bottom.
In all seriousness, I hope the bottom is in, because the bleak outlook for crypto always makes people forget that this thing will eventually bottom and make everyone that doubted look like a moron.
For now anyway, I'm looking for my next leverage trade, and also looking to buy some spot $HYPE as well with $15000 of the free money I have now. Big trades like that require clear and detailed entries and exits, so I'm waiting patiently for that win as well.

Day 21 of the $30K to $100K in one year challenge (Day 185 of the $10K to $100K in one year challenge)
I played today EXTREMELY well. After a bad week last week, today was my redemption.
Last week, I made profit in one trade and bled that entire profit in just 4 trades, making for a very very bad week.
However, I shorted $BTC after watching it fail to break above $64K and noted that there was weakness. I held that short and closed around where prices reversed today, while simultaneously buying spot at a better price than what I got it at last week.
I bought spot last week around $61,000, and closed today before the dump for $96 profit (if I had closed around $63900, I'd have been at nearly $800 profit, but whatever), and I re-bought that spot today around $60990, which is technically a better entry, although I entered with only half size.
I'm still long, and have at the time of writing this tweet, $135.80 in unrealised gains from my $1000 margin long. it was a lower conviction long I took at the time that I closed my shorts.
I posted all these live in the ramblings channel, so you can see my thought process from start to finish. Criticising what I'm doing is HIGHLY required, since I have no idea what I'm doing.

My spot $BTC is up quite a bit, and I'm short $BTC at the same time on leverage, and still adding. The spot is the main play, but the leveraged position could print more.
The spot position, to me, is a generational entry. People would kill to buy $BTC at $61K 4 months from now, but now they will avoid it like the plague, as if this kind of thing doesn't happen twice a year in our industry.
The extra $10K I have will be put towards leveraged bets (like the soon to be amazing performing short I have open now).
All in all, this is really my first 'active' cycle, where I trade and make decisions that can (negatively) impact my future, and I want to see what I'm truly capable of. I'm very willing to learn from my mistakes and figure this out in public, while I continue.

I’m up $1044 ($98 realized from spot so far, the rest is unrealized) from shorting a few days ago.
This is my first big win of the challenge, after a few back to back losses. Stuff is looking decent again, coupled with the current dump and people calling for crypto being “over” for the 10th time in 10 years.
There has never been a time that we didn’t recover, and of course we’re not starting now. I’m aligned bullish for now.

Bought $20,000 worth of spot $BTC today at around $61K.
The logic is simple: even if I'm wrong and $BTC goes to $50K before ATH, this is still a nice 2x with size, and a nice way to grow the portfolio overtime.
I think it may have been wiser to get this entry on alts (like the cursed $ETH or equally cursed $SOL), but for safety and security, I chose $BTC.
I've still got $10K for leveraged longs on these alts, and if it turns out that this is a false bottom, then I'll get better entries on those alts instead.
Win either way.

Day 16 of the $30K to $100K in one year challenge (Day 180 of the $10K to $100K in one year challenge)
My long has gotten stopped out. We are now back to square zero. $30,000 in holdings again.
It's bittersweet tbh, because I've had one winning and 4 losing trades. However, it took me 4 losing trades to wipe out one single win, which, statistically, is a good thing.
The only issue is that the 4 losses happened in a row, which was due to very bad decisions on my end. However, it shows that my risk management is at least acceptable.
I'm starting from a clean slate, which is a blessing and a curse, but this time, I will be more careful with my entries and exits, and I'll ensure that I continue managing my risk.
A moving man must meet his luck.

Not much to do today. I avoided getting in before the dump, and I longed $67337. Currently down about $50 on that long right now, but I think this is the bottom (or at least very close to it).
However, my long isn't for new highs or anything like that. This is strictly to play the inevitable dead cat bounce before we dump to $65K and probably below, at which point I will allocate $25,000 to purchasing spot across things I feel are interesting, and $5000 for margin for longs as well.
Till then, we watch and hope the plan works.

Day 14 of the $30K to $100K in one year challenge (Day 178 of the $10K to $100K in one year challenge)
Absolute shit day for me. lost $154 because of my foolishness by setting a limit order to buy a dumping asset at a level where I had not seen the price reaction.
It is better for me to have missed the trade than to have taken it and won, because winning will reinforce this bad behaviour.
My fear with futures is that it is easy to think you're just 'learning lessons' with every loss, but in reality you may not finish learning all the lessons you need before your entire account is used as tuition.
I've made decent money with futures in the past under much nicer circumstances, so it's not like I don't know what I'm doing to some extent, but I want to do this challenge in a bear market to get the necessary skills to actually do well even when things aren't rosy.
I am journaling everything I am learning in my public journal, but I need to start getting more careful with my entries and exits. My trading style is reactive, so trying to predict what price will do at a level is counter-intuitive.
No more limit orders for me.

Day 12 & 13 of the $30K to $100K in one year challenge (Day 176 & 177 of the $10K to $100K in one year challenge)
Today, in my ramblings channel (https://t.co/lus9MZBuYf), I made 3 trade ideas, one including $HYPE moving to ATHs. I should have made over $1000 in profits today alone based on these 3 ideas.
In reality, I made about $48 because I closed all the trades before they were actually invalidated. It would appear that I have an issue with selecting the correct invalidation levels, and that is greatly affecting my profitability.
At least, my decision making isn't compromised. Now that I have identified the problem, I need to fix it. I will work on that this week, starting with some intense studying first, and then practice as soon as I think I know what I'm doing.

Day 10 & 11 of the $30K to $100K in one year challenge (Day 174 & 175 of the $10K to $100K in one year challenge)
I am looking for longs now on $BTC and $HYPE. I think (in the short term at least) the drawdown may be over.
$HYPE is very strong right now, making another ATH recently. I had the chance to long $57, but it didn't match up fully to my strategy's rules, so I just canned the idea and looked at $BTC instead.
That may sound like a mistake, but in reality, following my rules will be better in the long term than making excuses because a coin is strong now. Getting used to making excuses for bad behaviour is how you lose.
Anyway, I missed my long entry at $73K today on $BTC, but with the reaction so far, I didn't really miss much. I think there may be a better entry at around $70K if there isn't much of a reaction next week around this level.

FWIW, I still have a bunch of $HYPE I bought in January. It’s not a lot (like $2K then, now nearly $7K), but at least I’m not completely naked as it continues pushing to $100.
That’s a bit of consolation but missing this trade still sucks pretty bad.
Made the plan, traded the plan, and closed very early for $60 profit instead of $1000.
$HYPE just hit another new ATH. I’m coping very hard tonight.
We live and we learn I guess.
If anyone was reta**ed enough to take that trade and hold it, congratulations to you.

Day 9 of the $30K to $100K in one year challenge (Day 173 of the $10K to $100K in one year challenge)
I'm very happy with how I played my first official trade of this series reboot. I shorted $BTC with test size and ended up with an over 30% win after about 2 days of holding.
I posted the short in my telegram where I am tracking the ramblings of the challenge (join here if you want to see the trades BEFORE I take them, NOT to copy but to follow along: https://t.co/lus9MZBuYf)
I entered the short and I had to distract myself from touching it by playing games and reading until it hit the target. I also used about 30% of my regular margin because I'm coming off of a pretty substantial loss, and although I regret that decision partially, it was the right decision to make, especially due to the size of the loss.
$345 isn't a bad profit to make to start the challenge, and hopefully the momentum continues like this.
For the next trade, I'm eyeing a long, but I am not going to rush into another trade coming off this win, as that's a recipe for a big disaster. I'd much rather calm down and watch even closer.
I will be increasing my margin to its regular size (about $3000). I also have about $20,000 reserved for short term spot buying on alts if $BTC dips below $72K. Alts being $ETH, $SOL and other large caps.
Let's see how this plan goes. For now I've given up on Polymarket and funding farms to focus on what's currently working.

After I rebooted my challenge, it took me about a week to get my first trade. This was solely because of the fact that I was a lot more cautious after losing my entire portfolio earlier this year.
However, on the 26th, I finally put my strategy to the test in a live scenario and shorted $77,100, held for about 24 hours and sold for +35% profit (I shared the trade in my TG ramblings channel, which you can join here: https://t.co/lus9MZBuYf. DO NOT COPY ME. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING. The group is just for random ramblings that don't make it to twitter here, as well as more in-depth looks at why I make some trades).
I also took the same trade on Variational, because I'm still passively farming both, although not as hard as before.
I unfortunately used test size to make these trades, so I only made about $350, but it's still a decent profit on $1000 margin.
I'm now looking for longs for my next trade, but it seems with proper management, my strategy can yield largely positive results, and that makes me incredibly happy.
Waiting on the next trade to form, but I thought I'd just give this update. I've also largely given up on funding farming and Polymarket for now, because I was unable to backtest my strategies there effectively. I think I'll stick to what's working for now.
I also am publicly soliciting support from anyone that understands on-chain trading very well. I want to add that to my skill repertoire, and hopefully complete the challenge faster.
I've seen how rough it can be from @real_y22's journal, but I've also seen the upside and will focus on the positives if given a chance to explore on-chain strategies. My DMs are open, and so are the comments. Thank you in advance.
Today, I am rebooting my $10K to $100K in one year challenge, 163 days after the challenge began. The reason for the reboot is simple: I wasn't really making progress.
I ran the $10K up to $11.3K, but promptly lost it all and got depressed and rage quit for two months. In that time, my X account, which was steadily growing, took a massive decline hit as well. I'm back now, hoping to rebuild everything.
To change things, I'm increasing the amount from $10K to $30K. It's still $100K as the cap, but I'm no longer aiming for a 10x in a year, which is quite frankly unrealistic. I'm now aiming for a 3x, which is somewhat more achievable.
Everyday, my aim is to end the day positive, and stay active all day. Here are the ways I plan to make money, and what they represent:
> Funding farm: just a way to stay active all day, while passively farming perp DEXs. The idea isn't to make a ton of money, but I noticed that if i miss a day, it becomes harder to justify going on in the challenge. So this is there to keep activity. I can also make a bit of money this way too, since it's not as complicated as leveraged trading.
> Trading: this is a major way I plan to make money from this challenge. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I was able to coin a strategy and backtest it in the 2 months I ragequit. The result was a 60% win rate over a 3 year testing phase, which is not bad by any stretch. Of course, emotional management is a key part of keeping that win rate, but we will figure that out together. Trading in this context applies to stocks (on Hyperliquid and Extended, since I cannot access brokerages from my country) and crypto, whichever section is booming.
> Onchain: I have zero experience here. The point of the challenge is to learn, while attempting to make money from areas I have no experience in (which is pretty much all areas at this point). I will allocate the tiniest part of my portfolio to this, while trying to learn how it works properly.
> Polymaket bets: Once again, zero experience here, but I'm willing to take risks that have more positive outcomes than negative ones. I will allocate a small portion of my portfolio here as well, and will ramp it up as I gain more experience.
Along with this, I will also try to get my X account back to winning ways by posting more frequently. The challenge will give me more things to talk about, and I will still do general research as I used to in the past.
I know it will not be easy, but I have a lot of delusional self-belief, which is important if I plan to 'make it' in this endeavour. I need to believe in my ability to pick things up and make them work, or else I will remain exactly where I am right now.
The whole ordeal will be publicly documented, and if you're 'regarded' enough to follow along, my TG is the place to be for all my ramblings and updates. You can join here: https://t.co/lus9MZBuYf
Let's see what comes of this by December 31st.

Got my first W today after about 2 months. I shorted $77K with about $1000 margin, and I made about $190, which doesn't suck tbh.
I'm still kind of getting into the groove of trading again, which is why I didn't pack size into this trade.
I have to ensure that I know what I'm doing once again and trust the process. But so far, my strategy is working.
I have given up fully on funding farming. It doesn't make any real money, and I think it exists solely to just farm points. You CAN earn 33-35% APR every year, but if you're not using large size and incredibly shrewd management, it's not worth the hassle. And since I have neither of those, I will quit it, for now.
That's my first trade done. I've taken a little profit, moved stops to breakeven and I'm holding the rest out for $74K for a mega long. Let's see.

I tweaked my strategy that I haven't used in a live trade yet over the weekend. Let me explain.
My strategy depended on finding daily timeframe confirmation before taking any trades. This was to prevent a situation where I would lose a bunch of money again, but those strict rules made me find ZERO trades in over a week.
Meanwhile, some of the people I look up to on this app have taken trades and made profit already, while I just sit on the sidelines. And these are trades I would have taken myself.
So I tweaked the strategy to require just 4H confirmation instead of 1D. And instead of manually backtesting, I used my friend's Claude premium subscription to backtest on a few years worth of data to reveal a 68% win rate if managed properly.
At this point I'll take anything to just be able to make progress on this challenge, so I will be using this new improved strategy tomorrow.
Let's see.

Day 4 & 5 of the $30K to $100K in one year challenge (Day 168 & 16 of the $10K to $100K in one year challenge)
I feel like a total failure. For the past two days, I haven't focused on this challenge because of the IRL stuff going on in my life.
But earlier this year, on the 1st day of January, around 11pm, my car overheated because my radiator got destroyed by a rock and I kept driving without knowing, and I was stuck on the side of the road for nearly 4 hours, and STILL managed to get a post out by midnight.
That was dedication, and I lost that after the loss of my profits made this year. I think that still affects me, two months later.
But the show must go on. I need to get even more serious with this shit. This is my only way out of the trenches.
I need to figure something out. But for now, I'm still a loser with a plan that needs executing.

Today was a great day for me tbh. Not because I found any positions or anything, as I was AFK all day, but because of $HYPE.
Before I started this challenge in December of last year, I parked nearly 40% of my liquid net worth at the time into $HYPE, and watched it bleed from $22 which was my buy in price, all the way down to $20 in January.
I held on for what felt like eternity, and today I am up about $30,000, which is absolutely insane.
I've taken some profit (which is always the bane of new traders), but I've been drinking Flood's Kool aid, and I want to believe this goes to $100.
Definitely not immediately, but at some point in the future. I've taken my initials out and then some, but I will leave the rest to sell at over $100 soon.
Now all I need is to full port the next $HYPE twice this year and this challenge will be over. If only it were that easy.
