After 69 years, some of our own people are still begging for water, classrooms, clinics and decent roads.

How much money must pass through Ghana before the Ghanaian finally gets to live like Ghana is actually rich? Something is wrong with all of us? Why are we not angry?

In just one year, he built an entire community with:

1. Running water and a stable electricity supply
2. A 10-classroom school serving hundreds of students
3. A feeding programme to provide meals for students for five years
4. A market
5. A library
6. A standard washroom facility
7. A community centre
8. A medical centre
9. A sustainable food source for the community
10. Ten houses for teachers within the community

All of this was accomplished in one year, by an individual.

And the interesting part? These are not extraordinary luxuries. These are basic social amenities that every community should have access to.

We have over 200 MPs representing communities across the country. Imagine if every MP had the same level of commitment and patriotism, actively seeking resources and using state funds to develop the communities they represent.

Perhaps then, we wouldn’t have students learning in dilapidated school buildings, communities without basic healthcare or reliable water, or people living without the most fundamental amenities.

Development should not be a privilege. It should be the standard.
