@EalingCouncil please can you do something about the glass being left on the roads by the council recycling truck, every two weeks it drops glass on the roads when it goes over speed bumps etc, on collection day, the amount today is particularly bad.
Farewell @itvcycling July won't be the same again. The team have done exceptional work over decades to produce the TDF coverage, it means so much to so many people. Thank you @millarmind @nedboulting @Petekennaugh@Chris_Boardman Gary, Matt, Carolyn, David and everyone else.
I am deffo a bit biased, but the loss of the excellent @itvcycling TDF coverage would be a real shame, not having free to view coverage of the Tour is bad for everyone. I hope something can be worked out to secure coverage for the future and look forward to 2025 more than ever.
This is not good news for cycling in the UK.
Firstly, I'd like to say that there are a lot of passionate cycling fans working at WBD, in front of and behind the scenes. The company is automatically 'disliked' by a cohort of the general public because it's a huge international conglomerate, but Eurosport have been showcasing cycling since 1991. They have, and continue to do a hell of a lot for our sport.
On the flip side, exclusivity on the biggest race in the world, the ONLY race where non-cycling fans might tune is, is very worrying. It's a significant barrier to entry into what is already a relatively niche sport in the UK.
ITV not only do a fantastic job themselves of broadcasting the race, live and with easily accessible highlights, they provide a gateway to WBD. The fans they 'convert' each July are more likely to subscribe to Discovery+/Max/Eurosport once they've realised how amazing our sport is. They must have made lifelong cycling fans of millions of people over the last few decades (including me).
Anyway, I really feel for Ned, Dave, Pete, Matt, Daniel, Gary and all the others behind the ITV production - thank you for all you've done for the sport.
A little clarification, since this is a topic that people are surprisingly passionate about:
“Next Sunday” is in 6 days. Because it is the next Sunday.
“This Sunday” is also in 6 days. They are the same day.
So is “Sunday coming”. Same day.
However, If you have already referred to Sunday coming as “this Sunday”, you may then refer to “THE next Sunday” as the following Sunday after that, but that does not make it “next Sunday”
Generally though, If you want to talk about the Sunday after the next one, you should say “Sunday Week”.
Hope this clarifies matters, and resolves the issue in a way that requires no further discussion.
There was NEVER anything wrong with wired earphones. The tiny inconvenience of a thin wire was nothing compared to the fuckaboutery involved with wireless ones.
THREE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY State schools have closed since the Tories came in. THREE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY. How many times did any of them lead a newspaper or get on the TV news? Might that be because so many of our senior media people use private schools? The Mail front page today1/2
