@ManuclearBomb Either "Cat in the furnace" or "Can you repeat the part of the stuff where you said all about the things... The things?" are the responses to almost any instruction in my house
@CardinalPeteCox Nice - I likely wrote some of the social posts calling for people to join you in spoiling people's God-given right to quietly line up. Be good to grab a beer/cuppa when not on duty.
Well, I'm going to Worldcon, my first since Dublin (before the world went down the wrong trouser of time). Nothing to publish or promote yet, just going to soak up some inspiration, meet some cool people and see Glasgow. Say hello!

I love a peacoat, and Rory's reminded me of that line from Carol Mather's obit. When Douglas Hurd wore a great coat to the Commons, Mather is reported to have said "the last time I saw someone in a coat like that, I shot him".
I didn't plan on making these daily updates, but we crossed into the 200s over the holiday and that seems like a reason to celebrate. Only 286 subscriptions remain before we've erased all the losses caused by Amazon!
Key chart to keep in mind as the Conservatives suffer their worst ever defeat:
The Tories didn’t lose this election because they were too right wing on some issues or too left wing on others.
They lost because voters of all stripes judged them to be incompetent and dishonest.
We're 344 subscribers away from where we were before Amazon pulled the rug out from under their traditional subscription program. There is light at the end of the tunnel, but still much work to do.

“Under the right circumstances, and with the right bookmaker, it could actually be more profitable for the Conservative Party to call an early election and lose it by an unprecedented landslide.”
I love to see people discovering Kevin Barry but still surprised at how many have never read his first collection of short stories, There Are Little Kingdoms, an incredible debut.
