Earlier this week, MPs gathered in Parliament to debate brain cancer research, treatment and patient care.
Secured by @BrainCancerJust and backed by more than 109,000 signatures, the debate brought much-needed attention to the devastating reality faced by brain tumour patients and their families.
The discussion highlighted some of the biggest challenges facing the community today: chronic underfunding, limited treatment options, barriers to accessing clinical trials, workforce shortages, and the postcode lottery that continues to affect care across the UK.
At Brain Tumour Research, we continue to call on the Government to increase national investment in brain tumour research and improve access to clinical trials. We remain committed to working alongside our supporters, researchers, clinicians and policymakers to drive meaningful change and improve outcomes for patients.

Today, June 6, is Ukraine’s Journalist Day.
They carried cameras instead of weapons. They told the world the truth — and were killed for it.
Nearly 30 journalists and media workers have been killed since the full-scale invasion.
We will remember every one of them.

When Martin was told there was only a 15% chance of completing a gruelling Arctic expedition across Norway's Hardangervidda plateau, he took on the challenge anyway.
Why? To honour his friend Andy, who died from a glioblastoma just nine months after being diagnosed 💛
Battling sub-zero temperatures, avalanche risk and hauling a 40kg sled for 120km, Martin wanted to reflect the odds faced by people diagnosed with this devastating disease and raise vital funds to help change them.

How do brain tumours communicate with healthy brain cells? 💛
New research from our Centre of Excellence at the University of Nottingham has revealed fresh insights into how glioblastoma cells interact with surrounding brain tissue, helping scientists better understand one of the most aggressive forms of brain cancer.
The findings could help pave the way for new treatment approaches in the future.

We want to say a huge thank you and well done to Amy Seager for taking part in the 200k in May, Your Way Challenge. You are amazing! 💛
Amy was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma after having an MRI scan for an unrelated back problem in March 2025.
She told us, “The brain tumour just crept up on me. I was just getting on with normal life, not realising I had this massive tumour in my head because I wasn’t being affected in big, obvious ways.”
Amy underwent surgery to remove the tumour in May and now has check-up scans every six months.
“This cause is so close to my heart, and it’s vital that research into brain tumours is properly funded. There are so many different types of brain tumour and there needs to be more awareness and more money to research this disease.”
Thank you to everyone who has taken part in the 200k in May, Your Way Challenge. We have loved seeing your posts every day. We truly appreciate your hard work and support. Together we will find a cure 💛

One in three people knows someone affected by a brain tumour.
A friend. A parent. A colleague. A child.
Yet brain tumours remain one of the deadliest forms of cancer and research into them continues to be severely underfunded.
The more we talk about brain tumours, the more we realise just how many lives they impact. Together, we can raise awareness, drive change and help fund the research that patients and families desperately need. 💛

Today, on International Day of Families, we’re thinking of every family affected by a brain tumour 💛
In this video, Eileen Smith, who lost her son Michael to a brain tumour, reflects on the strength and support found within the brain tumour community.
We know how difficult and isolating a diagnosis can feel, which is why we want families to know they are never alone. If you or a loved one needs support, information or someone to talk to, please reach out to our sister charity, @brainstrust.

As Dying Matters Awareness Week comes to a close, it’s a reminder of the importance of open conversations about death, grief and remembrance. 💛
Talking about death isn’t easy, but it can help us remember, share and celebrate the lives of the people we love.
After Richard passed away from a brain tumour, his tribute page became a special place for family and friends to come together and keep his memory alive.
Every day, 35 people in the UK are diagnosed with a brain tumour. Supporting in memory helps fund the vital research needed to change this.
