The question is really very simple: Do you believe all eligible Americans have the right to vote or are you terrified of what those voters will do to you if they are able to exercise that right?
A lot of people seem convinced this guy is a Nazi. I just don’t see it. He seems like a no bullshit Maine fisherman who has led a life that has made him rethink some of his past choices. I truly can’t imagine voting for Chuck Schumer’s 78 year old friend instead of him for Senate
A priest and a layman are discussing theology. The layman asks "Father, is it acceptable to smoke a cigarette while I pray?" The priest replies "No, for that is a distraction from prayer." The layman muses, nods, asks another question. "Father, is it acceptable to pray while I smoke a cigarette?" The priest replies "Yes that's fine."
everything can be taken and you will still be there. this is the terrible freedom at the bottom of loss. they can take the job and the money and the people and the plans and you will still be standing in the rubble with a heartbeat asking what you are going to do next. and you will do something. you always do something. that is who you are.
Hello, 9 year olds, I'm your English teacher. This Robert Frost poem is called "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening". It's about a guy that wants to commit suicide but he can't because he has chores to do
Edward Norton: “These are not normal times. We have extrajudicial assaults on Americans going on a daily basis now and it’s not okay. We cannot act like this is not happening. What they’re doing in Minnesota with the strike needs to expand. I think we should be talking about a national general economic strike until this is over”
oog and mate have fire between them. beautiful fire. warm fire. "this fire burn forever!" oog say on mate-choosing day.
fire not burn forever by itself. oog learn this hard way.
some night oog tired. mate tired. no one add stick. fire get small. cave get cold. oog and mate look at each other across tiny flame like stranger.
oog panic. oog think fire broken. oog think maybe need new fire.
but old oog say: "fire not broken. fire just hungry. feed it, dummy."
so oog add stick. mate add stick. blow gentle. fire come back.
marriage not magic forever-fire. marriage is two oog agreeing to keep adding stick.
some night oog add more stick. some night mate add more stick. this okay. this the deal.
love, oog
Things are bad right now, but some perspective helps. Not too long ago, leaders of both parties forcibly sent American teenagers to die in Southeast Asia and then the they lied the country into another war that cost $1 trillion and killed a million people — all while the economy was being rigged for bankers and billionaires to loot everything.
Maybe the past politicians seemed to you like nicer dudes than the current White House occupant, but things have been going in the wrong direction for a very long time, even if you weren’t paying as much attention because everyone had been a little more polite.
The fact is, much of what we’re living through now is less an anomaly and more a horrible culmination.
