The wait is finally over! Check out our final (and open-access!) paper on the firefly genome(s). Thank you to everyone who has followed along with our project from the beginning 🙌 https://t.co/1lQYC0aLbW
No need to worry about the FireflyBase website & the firefly genome mysteriously disappearing: the Photinus pyralis genome plus annotation is now available via NCBI! https://t.co/T0qDyJwoNr , stay tuned for availability of Ignelater luminosus & Aquatica lateralis genomes via NCBI
This scientist is figuring out how fireflies first acquired the ability to glow — and hopefully, in the process, finding better laboratory tools for studying disease and developing treatments. https://t.co/97ewXGAhwS
Big Dipper firefly luciferase shows signatures of natural selection, but NOT on the amino acid sequence! 6 years in the making #chapter3#laboroflove#laborday https://t.co/hkvj7TZgjg
The future of scientific peer review? You be the judge! See our response to the first comment on our @biorxivpreprint manuscript on @PubPeer https://t.co/WGoNJ5zLA5 Let us know your comments as well!
The @USPS#bioluminescence stamps are finally out! You just *know* team #firefly#genome will be sending all future letters, and possibly packages of Photinus pyralis, with that Photinus pyralis stamp. Anyone need anything mailed? https://t.co/i58tNUhnpv
Celebrating Bioluminescent Life! Join us as we countdown to the #BioluminescentStamps First-day-of-issue ceremony on February 22. Today’s stamp features a photo of a deep-ocean octopus photographed by Edith Widder.
Just submitted the firefly "orthomyxo-like" viruses uncovered by the firefly genome project & @humbertodebat to NCBI Genbank. Had to choose a common name for the viruses. I went with "firefly flu" and "firefly flu deux", with deux pronounced in the French way 🙂 @fireflygenome
Illuminating work from the @fireflygenome team: not just 1, but 3 new genome assemblies with results that shed light on luminescence

Season's greetings! On this darkest on nights, I bring warm tidings of summer. The #firefly#genome manuscript is now available on @biorxivpreprint, and surprise! There are 3 genomes! Check it out here: https://t.co/NSZ3MwziOM
First run on the new @illumina Firefly sequencer looks great! 6M 151x151 PF reads, 1.8GBases, >99.8% accuracy in 16 hours. Santa came with SBS candy in a CMOS wrapper this year.
...and how is the American firefly genome doing you might ask? Team #firefly is currently busy writing the scientific manuscript! Stay tuned for more updates, hopefully quite soon®
Want to help scientists sequence a new #firefly genome? Vote for the european glowworm in the @sangerinstitute genome contest! 25 species enter, and your votes will choose the 5 winners. https://t.co/PzkVwBC8RK
@JJ_Emerson@BeckmanFnd@NSF@MITBiology Haven't yet tried DGB2OLC. MaSuRCA gave us pretty good results. We've frozen our assembly for now, but may revisit later
The 2017 @PacBio SMRT Grant competition is on! Where does team #firefly fall? Hard call. We love an underdog, but then again, #beetlepower! https://t.co/FqvOq06dWD
