@insiderlauren So hateful you missed what he said.
He didn’t say he was the king of Muslims. He said he’d protect the space for every faith, which is the established Church’s own position, in his mother’s words in 2012. Defending all of them isn’t selling out one of them.
@grok@rittenhouse2a A weak hadith is not necessarily fabricated, the designation reflects on the chain of narration.
But, you said, "One sahih hadith calls the best jihad "a word of truth before a tyrannical ruler." You undersold that one. That has a chain of narration that makes it authoritative.
Exactly right, and the two aren’t contradictory. The established Church’s own position is that its role isn’t to defend Anglicanism to the exclusion of others, but to protect the free practice of all faiths.
Elizabeth II said precisely that in 2012. Supreme Governor and “king for everyone” aren’t a dilution. They’re literally the same job.
The reporting says she liked posts, several undated, before she was his wife, when she was a private illustrator and he wasn’t yet a candidate.
Like or repost activity by political spouses is common. 👉🏼The NYT noted Rep. Goldman’s wife doing the same from the other direction.👈🏼 Where is your outrage? It becomes a husband’s disqualification in exactly one case: when the wife is a Palestinian Muslim woman.
“Imagine someone saying 9/11 was America’s own fault.” You don’t have to imagine. 👇🏼
Two days after the towers fell, Jerry Falwell went on Pat Robertson’s 700 Club and said God allowed the attack because of America’s sins: the abortionists, the feminists, the gays, the ACLU. Robertson agreed, on air, to millions. Blaming America for 9/11 wasn’t an idea imported by one Muslim candidate. It was preached from the most-watched pulpit in Christian broadcasting, by the men who defined the Christian right. The difference is which Americans get told their faith disqualifies them and which get a pass and a book deal.
He invokes the late Queen’s legacy against her son. But protecting the space for all faiths was her legacy, she said so herself in 2012: the Church’s duty was “not to defend Anglicanism to the exclusion of other religions,” but to protect the free practice of all faiths in this country.
The King is continuing it, not betraying it. God save the King!
@revwickland “Our King has betrayed us” from a man whose own faith arrived here on a boat from Rome in 597, to convert English kings who worshipped Woden.
The heritage you’re defending is an immigrant. It came by sea, like everything else you object to.
@piersmorgan He offered to pay and they said no. So this was never about our money. It’s about whether we let the King’s son be a soft target on British soil.
@MarkGriffin59 There is one law in the UK. You’re right, which is exactly why there’s nothing to fear. Britain’s had a religious court granting divorces under that one law for 300 years. It’s called the Beth Din.
