Pretty hard to sum up the depth of knowledge that was present at the #wildlandfirecanada conference ๐ฅSo many amazing leaders, scientists and friends โฅ๏ธ@IAWF
3/To the communities that have suffered losses, I hope that you are with your loved ones, safe from harm. Focus on that for now, the rest will need to wait โฅ๏ธ Take care of yourselves, friends and families โฅ๏ธ
1/Terrible day for many of my friends and fire family all over western Canada today ๐ข
I can attest to feeling helpless in times like these ๐ฅIn the days to come things will get harder before they get better โค๏ธโ๐ฉน These fire seasons are starting to break even the toughest of us ๐ฅ
2/I ask of the public to be kind and show humanity to the responders ๐๐ฝ
Please appreciate all that responders do to keep you and your families safe โฅ๏ธ Sometimes though, the best thing to do is get out of the way and make sure that everyone is safe ๐ข

If we want to walk the talk about expanding the pace and scale of prescribed fire, we could light off fires like the #SitesFire under today's conditions and burn five to ten thousand acres at a time with pretty minimal risk to anything. Not all #GoodFire is low intensity!
It's nice when the media shows compassion for what wildland fire personnel go through for a change ๐ฅ Careful though, don't read the comments or you'll be disappointed again ๐ https://t.co/pZ8HLebuqQ

Very early on July 10, 2017 I received a call about a lightning caused #fire ๐ฅ Revisited the Verdant Ck fire area today to see how the land has recovered in the past 7 year. Cool to see the #wildfire themed trail ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฅพ @KootenayNP
Super excited to say that I passed my defense today. This research would not have been possible without the support & permission from @canoecreekband, my fabulous exam committee, the @LoriDanielsUBC lab group, & my family & friends. Stay tuned for a final version of my thesis๐ฅ๐ฒ

@amonthei I ask folks if they can predict 3 days into the future, then ask how reasonable it is to predict an entire fire season ๐ฅ We need to be prepared regardless because we can't stop it from happening. Same goes for anxiety over what it will bring. No use worrying, just be prepared ๐ฅ
๐ฅ As wildfire season ramps up, it's crucial to be prepared #3: provide sufficient time to evacuate. This approach can alleviate some of the stress and enables community members to bring important items. Learn more in our Book. Link in Bio. #FNWEPtips#EvacuationEfforts
