The Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Sachin Kumar Sharma as its Director General.
He succeeds Professor @Sachin_Chat, who has recently taken charge as the Vice Chancellor of @nalanda_univ.
Professor Sharma brings over two decades of experience in international trade policy, with deep expertise in WTO negotiations, agriculture and food subsidies, market access, trade disputes, and South-South Cooperation.
His broad experience in policy research, international negotiations, and development cooperation will further strengthen RIS’s mission of providing policy support, building partnerships, and fostering dialogue for inclusive growth, sustainable development, and deeper South-South collaboration.

During his keynote address on “Diaspora, Diplomacy and Development” at the Fifth Baleshwar Agrawal Memorial Lecture, Professor @Sachin_Chat, DG, RIS highlighted the evolving role of diaspora communities and emphasised the importance of future diaspora studies focusing on the Indian development model and the contributions of the diaspora.
