On Portsmouth today — worth being clear about where British Indians stand.

A small boat carrying over 100 people arrived on the Hampshire coast.

Hundreds of protesters then blocked
roads, in a standoff with police that ran through the night.

We don’t support illegal Channel crossings.

Full stop.

We paid thousands in visa fees.

We waited years in the proper queue.

We passed biometric, health and criminal record checks.

We worked, and paid full UK tax, from day one.

That’s not a small difference. It’s the entire point.

Legal migration built careers, businesses, and the NHS. Illegal crossings undermine trust in the whole system — including for every family who did it properly.

We’re not the people this debate should be angry at.

We’re the people who prove the system CAN work, when it’s actually followed. 🙏

I stood waist-deep in the waters of northern France and watched the entire British border strategy collapse in real time.

A dinghy packed with roughly 100 illegal immigrants launched right in front of us.

Standing on the beach were 10 officers from the French Gendarmerie Nationale. They did absolutely nothing. They watched it happen in knee-deep water where they could have easily intervened.

When I confronted an officer and asked why they let the boat go, his exact words were chilling: “Our order is to let them go”.

The Home Secretary is handing over £660 million of your hard-earned taxpayer money to France. Most of it is completely unconditional. Yet French officers are explicitly prohibited from stopping these boats once they hit the water.

Until we stop paying for inaction, exit the ECHR, and implement a real deterrent, these dangerous crossings will never end.

Portsmouth, UK: Going through the courts right now is a case of an Iraqi man who has been charged with raping a 14 year old boy + stalking offences.

Last night the first boat arrived there. Locals & beyond reacted with fury & desperation.

The illegal migrants were met with welcome packs. The British citizens were met with riot police; batons, shields and force.

Among those present last night, I saw the sister of Rhiannon Skye Whyte, a vicar, mums/dads and even a gran in a kayak.

Much of the media, many politicians & multiple commentators are falling over themselves today desperate to label these people “racist”, “far-right”, “thugs” etc.

The people who attended last night are desperate. They are angry, frightened and at their wits end. They feel betrayed by the government(s), they want this to immediately stop. They’ve tried the democratic way & it’s failed.

To all of you criticising….As you sit, in your comfortable chairs pointing and name-calling, while declaring “refugees are welcome here”, ask yourself this….How comfortable would you be if hundreds of these men ended up on your street, in HMOs next door to you, or if your child was raped by one, or if your child had to accommodate a grown man in their classroom pretending to be a child etc?

I could weep when I see what’s happening and what politicians have done to this country. The victims in all of this, as usual, will be the working class, the ones most impacted by all of this. They are rising because it’s the only thing they have left to do, because everything else has failed.

And to the politicians criticising, I say directly to them - how dare you. You have done this. You. You are eroding this country inch by inch, while getting the very same British people who have repeatedly voted against it, to pay for it.

I personally worry where it will all end…

You seem to say ‘just over 16,500’ as tho it’s somehow cause for celebration?

Knowing exact costs of asylum is tricky but the IPPR gave an annual figure of £41k per ‘asylum seeker’. With ‘just 16,500’, that amounts to circa £676.5m per year that British tax payers are forced to pay for those people. Home Office has stated an asylum claim costs £18,700. So for ‘just 16,500’ that is circa £309million pounds.

If placed in, say 4 bed HMOs, that is over 4,000 homes required for these ‘just 16,500’ people.

You then go on to reference crime statistics. Well, again, chance to understand all this would be a fine thing…Our government is currently fighting a ruling that would force it to be transparent with data in relation to migrant crime. The government are trying to block the release of it.

As for my child being ‘more likely to be raped by a family friend’, I find this a pathetic pushback. The fact we have our own wrong ‘uns is a good reason for us not to be taking in anymore. You also ignore per capita, the sexual offence rate seems much higher among certain communities (and again, that data release is essential to prove or disprove this).

Oh and don’t even get me started on lorry crossings… the ‘just over 16,500’ figure only focuses on boats. There is evidence showing that migrants are now also (again!) using lorries as method of access.

I note you are a ‘former head of comms’ for Number10. This does not surprise me. You seem to think the problem is with those pointing out reality, rather than with reality itself. You use baseless descriptions like “scaremongering”, I assume to try and shame people into staying silent and ignoring what they see with their own eyes. I’m afraid that doesn’t wash with me.

I’d hazard a guess that you’re far removed from the communities most affected by all this stuff. It isn’t just a cost issue, it’s a cultural one too. It’s a changing of communities, largely against the will of those within them.

I’ll end by respectfully suggesting that actually Mark, it’s *you* and your ilk who need to get a grip….
