Confiscating reporters' phones during NA proceedings is a significant setback for #pressfreedom & needs urgent reconsideration. Journalists must be able to report freely and transparently. @BoloBhi@DigitalRightsPK@MMfD_Pak@naofpakistan#Pakistan

Dubai Property Leaks: Some M 💵 Qs????
*****************************
- Who won these properties? Are they Pakistani residents or non-resident Pakistanis living overseas?
- If a resident Pakistani did so, did he declare in his/her tax returns filed with FBR?
- If a resident Pakistani purchased and didn't declare with FBR, isn't it a straight case of confiscation of such assets? Will FBR do it?
- Who are real owners, and who are the beneficial owners?
- When were these properties/assets purchased, and did the buyers have sufficient legal means available?
- How were the required funds transferred to Dubai, and what legal channels were followed?
- Were the necessary approvals sought from the Finance Ministry or State Bank or both?
- Do these owners, both actual or beneficial, have money trails to explain these transactions?
- Where was the entire Anti-money laundering (AML) operatus of the country during this period?
- How about the laws and rules for the purchase of dollars 💸?
- Are these laws only meant for ordinary people who are required to show their visa/travel tickets to purchase a minimum amount of foreign currency from authorised Money Exchangers?
- Who will hold these big flies accountable while they continue to stash their untaxed/illegal money aboard?
- Who will do the performance audit of the regulators, i.e., State Bank, Ministry of Finance, FBR, FIA, NAB, etc?
P.s While the country groans under the mounting debts and the poor struggle to have 2 square meals a day, our rich & power elite continue to flout the law with impunity.
Disclaimer:
Buying a property or asset in Dubai or anywhere overseas is not illegal per se if it is done by non-resident Pakistani settled abroad or a resident Pakistani having explainable trail of his/her taxed or declared money.
But then one must keep in mind that for an ordinary Pakistani it is nearly impossible with the current laws of the land to purchase a property abroad legally with so many restrictions. (Also lets not forget Pakistani laws are also contradictory when it comes to transfer of dollars from Pakistan to another country as every country discourages its money/investment from leaving its borders).
So my dad told me that mahogany in Pakistan costs 16000 pkr/sq ft. I thanked him for telling me and now I gotta figure out how to sell a door w/out him noticing.
Had a dream that I went to dinner w/@taylorswift13 and then like my normal delusional self, tried to convince myself for an hour that I was friends with her irl when I woke up. Sigh. #youwinsome#youlosesome
My 8-year-old hitting me with a reality check: "Go back to work, mama. #Work is basically just grownup play."
Who knew #adulting was just a leveled-up version of playground antics?
Here's to all the #parents out there secretly wishing for recess. 😉

Everyone in @PTIofficial congratulating @AliAminKhanPTI on being nominated as #chiefminister, shame on you. KP deserved better. As always, party over people and country.
The people of Pakistan have spoken, loudly and clearly; any attempt to manipulate their mandate will result in unsustainable chaos.
The heat of the electoral process has passed; it is time to allow the country to heal.
The political leadership - Mian Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, Imran Khan, Maulana Fazal ur Rehman, and others - must rise above petty politics and work together to confront the immense challenges our country is facing; they need to recognise that history is not kind to selfish politicians.
Every sentence about Yemen has "Iran-backed houthis" in it. How often do you see "US-backed Israel"?
Another is "Hamas-run health ministry". Who else is supposed to run it? Nickelodeon? Hamas are the govt.
Do the garbage press ever say "Likud-run health ministry" about Israel?
