@HelenlouWest This is going nowhere so I will close with an extract of your initial tweet "Weight loss to ‘a healthy weight’ in the long term is unrealistic for most people at higher weights" - misleading, generally unhelpful, forget that "study" 😑
@HelenlouWest "Treatment of obesity requires ongoing clinical attention and weight maintenance-specific counseling to support sustainable healthful behaviors and positive weight regulation" - So it is achievable with support? And this study focuses on obesity. What about everyone else?
@HelenlouWest Agree with your point on thin ppl.... but to say that weight / shape isn't a marker, is to suggest that anyone who is overweight has done so consciously. I am not advocating the associated stigmas, but I am disputing your pesimism towards achievable weight loss.
@HelenlouWest You are the problem. Overlooking the needs of the many, focusing on exceptions. Most people DO make excuses, and many people that are overweight ARE undisciplined, these aren't myths. These are largely avoidable health issues that YOU should be addressing constructively.
@sarahdempster Let's wait till they're 30 and overweight, when they're already stuck in their ways and relying on bloody pressure tablets to solve all their problems 😑
New video on how poor sleep impairs glucose regulation! Sleep restriction to 4h of sleep for two nights reduced glucose tolerance by 40% and the acute insulin response in healthy subjects by 30%. The good news is that exercise may help! https://t.co/shlhIoF6pb
@jtwheat27 How do you ensure consistency of resistance when using bands? That's like training without notes and simply picking up which ever dumbbell you feel like that day... 😑
@Go1MoreMile@StephenSeiler VO2 Max is a valid test, the over reliance on smart watches is what worries me. However, agree that having an output and improvement plan as result is the most important thing, not necessarily the result. Or is it..? Helps benchmarking?
@Go1MoreMile@StephenSeiler Coaching and Diagnostics are 2 different things... As long as 1 doesn't pretend to be a substitute for the other, there's no issue. The issue is that these 2 areas of sport science are not well linked. Coaches don't have diagnostic kit and test centres don't have proper coaches.
@NourishedNinja_ @Dietitianbytes Not sure I want to see calories on every menu, but it's not a "terrible idea". It will improve accountability and awareness in MANY people. Yes others may be not be as positively affected or rather negatively affected. But is the answer to overlook the needs of the many...?
@JaclynLondonRD Complete nonsense. Particularly like your section "Remember that you are responsible for upholding your priorities" which completely contradicts the headline
@ESGfitness Also worth noting that your body stores 4g of water for every 1g of Carbohydrate. So just 200g more carbs over the weekend (even if total calories stays same - less fat, less protein, more carbs) can lead to an extra 1kg in bodyweight. None of which would be fat! (theoretically)
