Anyway, I'll cap this adventure off with a promo pic I found for the product. @Mattel@Barbie y'all could've put both girls in matching outfits no reason to put the black girl in colors that push her to the background and give her no fun hair accessories ☹
A little disappointed I got White Bread Barbie in a set where 3/5 of the options weren't white but also really glad there's a collection where white isn't the dominant possibility. I think the only other collection like that is Color Reveal Classic Chelsea.
These were the other possibilities. Honestly, the one I got and the Palm Tree Girl are the most boring for designs for me. Stars and Moon, Rainy Day, and Rainbow Gal (no, I don't know anyone's names) are much more appealing to me fashion-wise. Except for the shoes on Stars. Ew
This is a clever marketing strategy, I'll give them that. I was a Beanie Baby fanatic back in the 90s so the obsession to collect as a kid is REAL. When I was younger, I was 0% interested in BarbieTM children, pets, or men. All I had were the women. I was BIG into the clothes
I absolutely love the novelty of the wig as hair (IT LITERALLY WAS THE BIG DRAW FOR ME TO BUY THIS!) but it kinda stinks for hair play. I think #Barbie looks cute with a shorter hair cut. I would have rather have had her with no wig and more clothing/wearable accessories.
Color Reveal #barbie has some classic joint movement. No spherical ball joint freedom for you, baby! 360⁰ ONLY
probably a cost-saving measure in production, much like some of the mould/cast lines on the plastic
Which is kinda a shame. Dressing up and hair play are two big elements to #Barbie it would be easy to have more clothing options by having more clothes (which, I don't). But the hair is the real tragedy here. Hair play is a little harder than the usual rooted heads.
Oh. The hair. Such a sad discovery. Between the sculpted short hair and the plastic base for the wig, #Barbie looks like she's wearing the skull cap of her enemy--scalp and hair still attached.
Here's the face under cold water. It's a face. My most fun was had when running this under hit water and the chemical reaction is almost so instantaneous it looks like the paint blips out of existence. It's a little sci-fiesque. I dig it
Huh. Pleasantly surprised at how clean she came out. I'm curious about the chemistry of the paint and the type of plastic used. Some glitter still hanging out but she's definitely not made of Normal BarbieTM materials.
The skirt is a skirt? I know what doll I have. It's not a GREAT feeling lol was really hoping for a doll with darker skin because white #barbie is just kinda... overplayed and boring. Oh well. Blonde hair, white skin it is sigh
The wig is interesting. It looks like heat was used to attached everything, not rooting. Considering the price (pretty inexpensive), I get wanting to save on labor costs. That being said, it was a little sad to see some of the hair melted in parts it shouldn't be :-(
