(4/4) I just think it's incumbent upon directors and other public-facing, influential figures in film to be careful not to shape public perception in a way that is detrimental to artists.

(1/4) That's not what the public thinks, though. As much as I love his work, when Nolan says they didn't use "CGI" in Oppenheimer, the public equates "CGI" with "VFX" and as a filmmaker he should know that.

(3/4) are clearly capitalizing on growing public sentiment against "CGI." I mean, when you have a Guardian article praising the practical nature of Barbie where the featured image shows a blue screen, you know the public is confused about this stuff.

@lookner Hey Steve. It’s very possible someone in their PR just wrote that ahead of time as a possible outcome. It’s possible they know something, but this isn't proof of anything. They could have a couple press releases ready.
