@burkov 2/3 Any decent textbook on ML will explain that the 1/2 coefficient used here is just to make math more aesthetically pleasing when taking the gradient.
And, that 1/N comes from the fact that the cost function reflects the expected loss.

@rasbt Have you thought about splitting your lectures into multiple shorter videos? (For example, one 90 minute lecture into few ~30 min. videos.) It will be much easier for your students to follow and for you to redo particular sections if needed.
