@Kzovko Most athletes weren’t on full scholarships. At a tuition of almost 45k a year, a lot of athletes were paying near that to play at the division 1 level even with a partial scholarship. My guess around 35% of students are in this catagory. All will be gone, with its rich D1 history

NIL and free agent transfer portal played a part, but ultimately comes down to the school admin for unwillingness to accept change. Hate this for the coaches and players, BUT for SFU turning a blind eye to alumni’s willingness to help shows that they just didn’t want to compete.
