So important that Nottingham Forest and Evangelos Marinakis persuaded Morgan Gibbs-White to stay (club announce contract extension to 2028). It’s more than an announcement, it’s a statement. Not only are they keeping one of their most important players, Forest are sending out a statement of continued ambition. 

Forest had a frustrating end to the season, slipping from the Champions League places, then losing Anthony Elanga to Newcastle. But in June the intelligent and quietly inspirational head coach Nuno signed a new contract to 2028. Elliot Anderson’s stellar displays as England won the Under-21 Euros showed why this season he may quickly develop into Forest’s key player and then go to the World Cup as a 6. And now this MGW announcement. 

Great news for Forest fans, for their other players and for those considering joining. Forest fought hard for him to stay, Marinakis fought in his inimitable way, threat of legal action against Spurs. Gibbs-White has handled it professionally. Must have been tempted by Spurs, and CL stage, but did not burn any Trent bridges during the Spurs links. Trained and played pre-season. 

Now can focus on the season with Forest and the challenge of forcing his way into a crowded England World Cup squad. Frustrating for Spurs but they have James Maddison, who can be a game-changer in that 10 role - when fit. #NFFC #THFC #ENG
