@JKellemen@Crunchyroll yeah that EU anime licensing split is brutal. worth knowing Crunchyroll is pretty aggressive about blocking known VPN datacenter IPs, so a lot of VPNs get caught even when everything looks fine. one on a residential IP tends to hold up much better for exactly this

@0xaioli@surfshark that slow decline is usually the IP ranges getting blacklisted over time, not the app itself. big name VPNs are the easiest to flag since everyone knows their ranges. worth trying one on a residential IP next time, much harder to catch

@KU_DA8@wtfiswxth honestly the useful question is what youre using it for. most VPNs run on datacenter IPs that get flagged by banks, streaming, work logins over time. if any of that matters to you, look for one on a residential IP instead, it just blends in as a normal connection

@Photographs_F_G depends what youre trying to get past. most VPNs use datacenter IPs that streaming and sports sites already flag, so it works for five minutes then breaks. one that gives you a real residential IP holds up a lot better for that
Weird thing nobody tells you about remote work. Laptop clock, calendar invites, background sync timestamps all quietly say where you are even if you never mention it. You do not get flagged for one bad login, you get flagged for a pattern you did not know you were leaving.

@lalwinethinker if its geo locked, the app matters less than the IP youre on. most VPNs use datacenter IPs those platforms already flag, so streams buffer or just refuse to load. a residential IP reads as a normal viewer so it holds up better
Genuinely curious how many people have had a subscription they pay for back home just stop working the second they land somewhere else. Not pirated, not shared, just paid for and suddenly geo blocked like you did something wrong.
@mijetspie region locks on streaming sites usually check IP location pretty aggressively, and a lot of VPN ranges are already on their blocklists. a residential IP tends to get through since it just looks like someone actually browsing from that country
@evakcore for live streams like that its almost always a country lock, and most VPN IPs are already in the databases those sites check against. one that gives you a residential IP is the difference between it just working and getting the geo error mid stream

Streaming apps are the least of it. The quiet one is your own bank flagging you as a fraud risk because you logged in from two cities in one week. Nobody warns remote workers about this until it happens to them.
