Will use this thread to review the books I read in 2019, 1 tweet per book. This year I'm going to go through the @vulture 21st century canon. I've read 20/100 previously so will go through the remaining 80. Books from list will be numbered, those not from Vulture list with a *
Such a novel idea, going through the portfolio building by building to estimate the valuation. Not like you'd bother doing that just as regular business or anything
* Hard to return to world so many love. Dont want to spoil, excellent book, not as claustrophobic/suspenseful due to focus away from HM and towards characters with more agency, lost track of no. 4-6 wd sentences MA manages to convey so much through 9/10

25. Excellent. The world is enchanting, even if it's bleak (it is about Chechnya). I liked the structure, but more than that I loved all the little details, the fabric of the society Marra weaves. And a debut novel too, just amazing.
9/10

@nic_carter@lex_node@MakerDAO Aragon proposal to buy dots which was rejected went against what their leadership wanted (depends if you count that as governance I guess)
But yeah, given the huge proportions owned/positions occupied by owners, it's usually just a foregone conclusion
@simondlr Looks cool! I'm writing my first novel ATM too. It's at turns incredibly frustrating and rewarding. Really enjoy the process though.
It's also led me back through some of my favourite books to analyse/deconstruct them which has been useful too.
@EDadoun @zhusu The interconnected nature is probably less of an argument against a WW than the weapons available. We're so intertwined that it's almost an inevitability at some point, probably when the USA's dominance begins to wane.
@OhYouBlockhead * Grown to love tight scifi/dysto focusing on specific part of world in detail. Mostly takes place on wall around UK, conscripted soldier keeping out 'the other' (i can does allegories gd). Ending was a bit copout but rest was paced well and engaging 8/10

@OhYouBlockhead * Surprised by 3 things re-reading this: 1-that there were so many signposts to the identity twist, don't remember it being that explicit; 2-i actually prefer Palahniuk's later writing; 3-the absence of proferred solutions or moralising is refreshing 8/10

@sunnya97 A correct assumption in my experience
Drivers very aware
Cyclists broadly unaware, with the worst the most dangerous on the road
Pedestrians no awareness
No coincidence my two major crashes have been caused by other cyclists
@dazuck@jbrukh@avsa Not just usability, awareness is a massive factor. There wouldn't be demand for billions of dollars worth @ 15%.
Also reflects investor type/lack of institutions. People are used to volatility, 15% pa isn't same draw as traditional markets. Market can do 15% in a day.
@killerstorm@udiWertheimer and even then they usually distribute according to which is more favourable for them to keep i.e. USD or ETH depending on performance since raising
@killerstorm@udiWertheimer same as the icos which shut down and distribute remaining assets - just ignore fact they generated up to 50% of supply for themselves for free and so benefited from final distribution/spent lots of the collected funds on their lifestyle to that point
