The Justice Centre announces that the Federal Court has dismissed the Federal Government’s motion to strike a constitutional challenge brought by Canadian Women’s Sex-Based Rights (CAWSBAR) and has also granted CAWSBAR public interest standing to proceed with the case on behalf of federally incarcerated women.
The constitutional challenge concerns Correctional Service Canada’s Commissioner’s Directive 100: Gender Diverse Offenders, which permits the transfer of trans-identifying male inmates into women’s federal prisons. Lawyers funded by the Justice Centre filed the claim on behalf of CAWSBAR in April 2025.

Glad to see a judge calling out bail conditions that violated free expression and assembly after environmental activists were banned from referring to their charges in any form of media or participating in any public gatherings. https://t.co/SA1NdRvKcp
Having armed, masked federal agents roam the streets and threaten American citizens that they're being put into a "database" and are being deemed a "domestic terrorist" for the crime of videotaping them should disgust everyone.
I am reflexively anti-intervention because I still believe the U.S. military is stunningly capable of limited operations but Washington lacks the strategic competence to successfully achieve an endgame in a complex faraway land without bad 40th order consequences
And with all due respect to my Canadian friends, whose politics focus obsessively on the United States: your stagnating living standards have nothing to do with Donald Trump or whatever bogeyman the CBC tells you to blame.
The fault lies with your leadership, elected by you.
"Health records deserve the highest level of protection from the intrusion of the state,” said constitutional lawyer Chris Fleury (@fleurycx).
The Supreme Court of Nova Scotia has granted public interest standing to a group of physicians and patients, represented by lawyers funded through the Justice Centre, in a major constitutional challenge to the province’s Personal Health Information Act.
The ruling allows the applicants to proceed with their Charter challenge of recent amendments that force doctors and other healthcare providers to disclose patients’ private medical information to government officials without consent.

We should have a larger convo about how companies like American Eagle use beautiful people to add glamor to unglamorous products. In 2023, a young Bangladeshi woman committed suicide at a factory that made American Eagle clothes bc of abuse. This is the cost of cheap clothes.

The @rcmpgrcpolice and @TD_Canada will be forced to turn over records relevant to the freezing of the bank accounts of peaceful Freedom Convoy protestor Evan Blackman.
Mr. Blackman was arrested and released on February 18, 2022, for his involvement in the protest. He soon discovered that three of his personal bank accounts had been frozen without notice - an "absolute shock" to Mr. Blackman.
“We are hopeful that the Court will compel the RCMP and TD Bank to produce records that explain exactly how and why his accounts were frozen,” said constitutional lawyer Chris Fleury @fleurycx on June 27, 2025.
That's exactly what has happened, forcing the RCMP and TD Bank to be transparent with the court about their reasons for interfering with Mr. Blackman's finances.
Additional details will be released soon.

BREAKING NEWS
The Nova Scotia Supreme Court just dismissed a discrimination complaint on the basis that there is no right not to be offended.
This is a significant victory for Canadians' freedom of expression.
In 2019, a student accused St. Mary's University and the Society for Academic Freedom and Scholarship @SocietyforAcad1 of discrimination after Dr. John MacKinnon had published an article critiquing the state of academic integrity in post-secondary institutions.
Justice Boudreau in her decision wrote, "being upset or offended is not the same as discrimination."
Constitutional lawyer Chris Fleury @fleurycx remarked, "My client and I are elated with the decision. The Court rightly agreed with our submission that freedom of expression is not to be interfered with, even in the context of a human rights complaint. This is a significant victory for Canadians overall, and particularly for those who seek to express controversial opinions."

The massive and historic size of Trump's victory should lead to some self-reflection about what caused the complete collapse of faith in the legitimacy of US institutions of authority and justice, whereby voters so easily disregard 4 felony cases as irrelevant if not an asset.
@atRachelGilmore Remember when journalists used to focus criticism on institutions of power? Not making fun of 100 yocals who all have legitimate grievances... if expressed imperfectly. Also: I would have been one of those yocals had I known in advance that PMJT was in the beautiful city.
