7/12/26 It was so busy in The Battery today , I think Astoria was overwhelmed by all the foot traffic . She tried 2x to fly but stopped . She waited a while for her runway to clear again then she flew up at 8:33p. #birdcpp 🙏❤️🦃💤

1). Re-311-28120651-Please see atttachments: 1. My reply to 311 survey re a homeless encampment. 2. The JPG I could not attach to since the Park is not listed on the 311 system.

2) Bottom line, the 13th NYPD confirmed the encampment, DHS took over the issue, see screenshot. But I had to spend at 30 least minutes (!) with a live operator to get the report in. BTW the 311 operator was Francesca and she was great. Thank you and please advise.

Happy New Year and Thank You!
Personally, 2025 was a shit year, the worst on record. For those who know what I went through, I won't go into detail, but it's been a crap year, not just for me but also for my wife and children. We didn't just lose one person; we lost an entire family. I also became aware of certain harsh truths which have forced me to re-evaluate my whole life. What I found was cruel and devastating.
Then there was you. I often get told my posts make people happy, that they somehow help people through difficult times. Well, that's a two-way street. When you react positively to what I post, it helps ME. It makes ME happy, and this year, I really needed that. So, thank you for your replies, support and love. I often felt abandoned and alone this year, then I'd turn on my computer, and there you were. You make me smile every day, and isn't that a beautiful thing? You have unknowingly helped me through a very challenging and stressful time, and I will be forever grateful.
So, from the bottom of my heart, I wish each and every one of you a Happy New Year. Let's hope 2026 brings a little more love, a little more understanding, new friends, good times, heartfelt laughs, fewer tears and a brighter future.

@StellaH07773809 Stella, I am 1/11 to see Astoria at Roosevelt Island (bike ride) and I am 0/3 to see her (early afternnon bike ride) at Battery Park. So this evening (hopefully-no bike tonight) I will see her (and you) for her oak tree nesting flight. 🙂
