Tinubu's government, through the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), hired 6 SANs to defend the case requesting them to release details of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway contract, which was awarded to Chagoury’s Hitech!
My goodness!✍️
First of all you tried getting the party leadership thrown off using the compromised INEC!
Then you deny them making use of any well known location in Abuja and when they finally got this location, you threatened the owner of the event centre.
Now there’s no light and they’re having to fan themselves, all because they’re not APC and we still believe we are practicing democracy in this country!!!
When Peter Obi said Abacha was better than these NADECO activists, you were all foaming from the mouths but just look at what these guys are doing!
"Nigerians, we have to eliminate fear. We are almost 300 million people in this country, and we are still allowing things like this to happen. Nigeria has been independent since 1960, but are we truly independent?" - Nigerian youth protests
Nigeria Is Not A Country. It Is Gilbert Chagoury’s Private Estate.
I was in Geneva today. Two hours with a very senior Swiss banker — a good friend. The subject was Gilbert Chagoury.
This man does not laugh easily. He laughed constantly.
Every time I described what was happening in Nigeria — every contract, every honour, every port deal — he laughed. Not with me. At Nigeria. And I sat there feeling something I rarely allow myself to feel. Shame.
Here is what I was telling him.
Since Tinubu took office, Gilbert Chagoury — a man convicted in Switzerland for laundering Abacha’s stolen funds — has collected over $12.7 billion in Nigerian federal contracts. The Lagos-Calabar Highway. Tin Can Port. Apapa Port. Snake Island. All without competitive bidding. And the President’s son Seyi sits on the board of a Chagoury Group subsidiary — then goes on television to tell Nigerians his father is not enriching his friends.
My banker friend laughed at that one the longest.
In January, Tinubu gave Chagoury Nigeria’s second highest national honour. The presidency didn’t even announce it. Someone posted a photograph on X.
Then came London. A £746 million port financing deal sealed at Downing Street during Tinubu’s state visit — with Chagoury reportedly in the delegation, and his company already selected to execute the contract. The British know his history. They have decided it does not matter.
My Swiss friend told me plainly: Nigeria will never be taken seriously as long as a man who helped Abacha loot the treasury can return decades later, collect billions in contracts, receive national honours, stand beside the President in London, and face zero consequence.
He is right.
I will not stop writing. But tonight I drove back to my hotel carrying the weight of a country that deserves so much better than what it is being given.

🇳🇬 JUST IN: LGA Chairman Sends Thugs to Disrupt ADC Congress in Abua/Odual, Rivers
This morning, the LGA Chairman sent thugs to violently disrupt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) LGA congress in Abua/Odual, Rivers State.
The attackers stormed the venue, destroyed materials, and brought the congress to a complete halt, forcing participants to flee for safety.
🇳🇬 JUST IN:
This morning, APC-sponsored thugs disrupted an African Democratic Congress (ADC) ward congress in Afiesere community, Ughelli North LGA of Delta State.
Multiple eyewitness accounts confirm that the attackers stormed the gathering, causing chaos and forcing participants to flee as the meeting was abruptly brought to an end.
Local sources, including a former Ughelli North II House of Assembly candidate, identified the attackers as APC-sponsored thugs and described the incident as a calculated move to intimidate opposition activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
The disruption reportedly took place at or around Afiesere Primary School during the ward congress.
Standing Up for Democracy
Today, I joined fellow Nigerians, leaders, and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by National Chairman Sen. David Mark to participate in a peaceful "Save Democracy" protest.
This event was not just an effort to protect our democracy; it was also a moment of reflection on how far we have fallen as a nation. We must resist the suffocation of our democracy by those who once claimed to have sacrificed to defend it, but are now doing everything possible to undermine it and silence opposition.
History will not be kind to those who traded the struggle for democracy for the comfort of power. We will not remain silent, we will not be intimidated, and we will not surrender the future of this nation. The will of the people must prevail—stronger, louder, and impossible to suppress.

“Most of Nigerian politicians’ children are not Nigerians. They are citizens of other countries. They only see Nigeria as a looting ground. You are the one who is a Nigerian and you need to fight for your country”
Everything he said here is totally true.

A CALL TO SAVE NIGERIA: NATIONWIDE PROTEST TO DEFEND NIGERIA’S DEMOCRACY
#OccupyINEC#SaveNigeria
2nd April, 2026
Issued by: Obidient Movement
There are moments in the life of a nation when silence becomes dangerous and inaction becomes complicity. Nigeria has arrived at such a moment.
Across the country, there is a growing sense that the foundations of our democracy are being tested.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which should stand as an impartial guardian of the people’s will, is increasingly perceived as compromised under the present administration.
At the same time, opposition voices appear to be under pressure in ways that raise serious concerns about the future of Nigeria’s multi-party democracy.
When institutions lose credibility, the will of the people is endangered. And when that happens, citizens have a duty to act.
The Obidient Movement remains committed to a Nigeria where institutions are strong, elections are credible, and leadership reflects the true choice of the people. It is from this position of responsibility that we state clearly that urgent corrective action is required to restore confidence in the electoral system and protect the integrity of our democracy.
Our Demands
The resignation of the INEC Chairman for gross abuse of office, loss of public trust, and failure to uphold the neutrality required of that office.
An immediate end to political persecution, including all forms of intimidation, harassment, and targeting of opposition voices.
The protection of Nigeria’s multi-party democracy, with a halt to all actions that undermine opposition parties.
Full respect for party autonomy, ensuring that the internal leadership and integrity of political parties, including ADC, are not interfered with.
In defence of these principles, we are commencing a nationwide peaceful protest, #OccupyINEC, starting immediately across all states and the Federal Capital Territory.
This is a call to action grounded not in anger, but in duty — a collective effort to safeguard the democratic future of our country.
In Abuja, participants will converge at the ADC National Headquarters. The date and time will be announced accordingly, from where a peaceful march will proceed to the INEC Headquarters.
Across the nation, Obidients and all well-meaning Nigerians are encouraged to organise, mobilise, and participate in a coordinated and disciplined manner.
This moment goes beyond party lines. It is about the survival of democratic values and the protection of the Nigerian state itself.
We will remain peaceful, we will remain lawful, but we will not stand by while our democracy is weakened.
Nigeria must not become a one-party state. We will stand, firmly and collectively, until what is right is done.
A New Nigeria is Possible — but only if we defend it.
Signed
Obidient Movement
