OTD 8/18/94, STS-68 had an abort on the launch pad when the 3 main engines shut down just 1.9 seconds before liftoff. One of the 1st things the crew had to do was reprogram the onboard computer so it would not fire the explosive bolts 2 min. later that would jettison the SRBs.

GUYS! I need launch advice. I know as of now playalinda will be closed, jetty park and the exploration tower as well, probably. If the bridge will be accessible, is that a good viewing location for demo 2? All advice appreciated. I’m trying to plan this right.

Also aware that I’ll have to get there at the crack of dawn, but will they even allow you to do that?! Let ya girl know. I’m just trying to witness history at a reasonable distance. (Like everyone else I’m sure.)
