professional video editor of 8 years here, we don’t want this vibecoded bullshit of an evident cashgrab. the whole point of making videos is that YOU are the one making all the creative controls. YOU make the cuts, YOU control the pacing, YOU pick the effects. if we let ai do this, every single video will eventually look and feel the exact fucking same because it’s using its own data as references. if you can’t be bothered to sit down for a couple hours or days and make those edits yourself, pay someone who does.
the 45 year gap between his work and the prize is the real story. nash published the equilibrium proof in 1950 at age 22. a 27 page dissertation. the nobel committee waited until 1994 partly because they weren't sure how to handle awarding someone who had spent 30 years experiencing severe paranoid schizophrenia.
the prize committee privately debated whether nash was "well enough" to receive it. the math hadn't changed in 44 years. what changed was the committee's willingness to award a person whose biography complicated the ceremony. game theory reshaped economics, military strategy, and evolutionary biology for decades before the person who invented it was considered presentable enough to collect the award.
There's no such thing as perfect, but this tornado was close. Peep the inner vortex snaking inside the main funnel. This is my favorite photo from 2025.
At our hearts, we are seekers, and today we celebrate a scientific milestone!
Nearly 30 years after the first discovery of a world orbiting a Sun-like star beyond our solar system, @NASA’s Exoplanet Archive reached 6,000 confirmed exoplanets. 🎉

Astrophysicist Arthur McDonald uncovered a secret of one of the most mysterious and ghostly particles of our universe - the neutrino.
At SNOLAB, a science laboratory 2km underground, McDonald proved that neutrinos have mass. He shared the 2015 physics prize with Takaaki Kajita.
I am devastated to share that the love of my life, Gizmo, has passed away at the age of 17. We shared so many memories and storm chasing adventures together especially over the last 15 years. Gizmo chased over 200 tornadoes, category 5 hurricanes, and loved me unconditionally through some very hard times across hundreds of miles. We chased through the pandemic on fast-food living out of the Subaru. She beat cancer, ticks, flash floods, and was inside of a tornado with a broken leg / peg leg cast. She visited 48 states, dozens of National Parks, three Canadian provinces and was loved by many storm chasers. This will be a very difficult time
Hey just wanted to say that @wxdave1@ConvChronicles@ou_sams and the legends Wakimoto, Bluestein released a paper on the Selden, KS tornado and I highly suggest you check it out! https://t.co/cE5GGDekG7
Happy pi approximation day!
Today's date, 22 July, can also be written as the fraction 22/7, which is equal to 3.14285714, an approximation of π, correct to two decimal places.
Being a scientist in 2025 is so disheartening.
Politicians make erroneous claims. Social media accounts perpetuate lies and pseudoscience to monetize their audience’s gullibility.
Scientists try to educate and are lambasted.
I feel like I’m at America’s intellectual funeral.
