🔴⚪ Never in my lifetime did I think Real Madrid fans would use Arsenal as a yardstick to measure their own strength ahead of a Champions League campaign. Real Madrid. The most decorated club in the history of the competition, treating us like the test.
Before the draw this morning, Barcelona fans were actually hoping to get us. Not to avoid us, to get us. Because facing Arsenal would tell them everything they need to know about whether they can actually compete for this thing or not. Omo.
If someone told me in 2014 that Bayern Munich fans would one day see Arsenal as a tough opponent, I would not have believed them. Ah swear. Those were the years Bayern were putting five past us like it was a Sunday league mismatch. 5-1. Three different times. That was our relationship with "big" European teams back then, we were the appetizer.
Many many clubs now see us as the team to beat.
I feel like crying right now.
I don't know wha to say, I just want to say, Thank you Arteta. You really did pull us out of the trenches, season by season, painful near-miss by painful near-miss, until the same clubs that used to look past us started looking over their shoulder instead.
We're still here. We're still building. And apparently, everybody else is watching to see how far.
COYG. Always. 🔴⚪
Arteta has given Arsenal fans insane confidence, they have easily the most difficult games in the UCL and they are not even scared one bit. 🙆♀️🙆♀️
