@JamesMelville Watched a video on YouTube recently and they do this in remote parts of Japan for aging communities. It’s a lifeline in many cases. They used to do it in my granny’s village in Scotland in the 80’s and I remember thinking it was such a good idea.

@clairebubblepop @Melissa_suze My FIL is an ex-pat & lives in Spain. He and his partner have integrated into the community and learned Spanish to communicate fairly fluently. They don't expect Spanish benefits, they paid Spanish taxes when they were earning (since retired). There's an obv difference!
