It might surprise people to know I was raised on a diet of 70’s new age, Motown and the powerhouse female vocalists my mum was preferable to at the time.

I still listen to Nujabes a lot, Kid koala, DJ Shadow, and Kid Loco are a few hip hop acts I like that I’ve been into since I was young… Most of whom I wouldn't have heard of without my friends at the time.

I like Miyavi and Toe from Japan. I’ve been listening to a lot of them recently…and I love the string arrangements Maya Sakamoto uses…Though I don’t keep up with them much, I’m very impressed by the longevity of the band Scandal, if we’re talking about that part of the world…

Why does everyone want to sound like that guy, or some girl who plays an acoustic, where have all the musical artists who want to sound like themselves gone?

Why is the word different in music often synonymous with the word unlistenable? Like, why do people assume you have to make noise to be different, as though one day your garbage disposal sounds will be appreciated…

I didn't learn the skills I have today because I was expected to have a brand or image, or a lifestyle to sell. Musicians used to only have to worry about making good music, no wonder people comment on a drop in standard.

I started drums to hit stuff, I started guitar to write songs, I learned bass and piano to record without a band, I developed social skills because I got stuck with the mic, I learned music-law to not be taken advantage of, I learned photo editing to make the pics I got taken ok.

@JustinTrudeau How long is the government going to endorse white supremacists? Why are Nazi's allowed to harass and disturb the city's residence without consequence. I'm all for a right to riot, but I'm against hatred, and dictatorial might is right. Thanks for choosing sides.
