After a few struggles with ballasting and a cracked rudder, the glider is finally back in the water! Trying some more ambitious test missions (longer time and distance submerged) to prepare for a possible flight under the Nansen Ice Shelf

Last night at around 19:00 (UTC+13) the glider finally went in the water! All initial checks went well and all were back aboard the Araon for New Years. (Happy 2019 by the way!)

Our first mission is a pair of 25 km long lines parallel to the calving front of the Nansen Ice Shelf (about 5 km from the ice). We’re looking for any super cooled or otherwise unique plumes of water that may indicate the location of sub-ice shelf channels.
