There are few things that concern pilots and crew more than this scenario. A lithium battery power pack that has a thermal runaway and catches fire mid-Atlantic. This was well handled by the KLM crew and a potential disaster averted.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not put these in your hold baggage and if they’re damaged do not bring them onboard. You will place you and the entire aircraft at significant risk.

Pilot and co-pilot of private jet that crashed at Misrata International Airport on Monday have been detained for flying while intoxicated.

The prosecution did not identify the pilots, however said that the captain is a German national and the copilot is Turkish.

Prosecutors said investigators had found evidence that the pilots flew the aircraft while drunk and ordered their detention pending the investigation.

A private business jet crashes upon landing at Misrata Airport, Libya.

The accident caused a fire on board the aircraft, leading to the temporary suspension of all flights at the airport.

The aircraft—carrying a crew of two pilots and one flight attendant—was operating the empty ferry flight when the incident occurred.

Turkish media reported that the private jet is owned by Turkish businessman Hamdi Akin, who is the chairman of Akfen Holding.

Today! Cessna Citation Bravo overruns runway and catches fire in Brazil, all the eight occupants safe.

A Cessna 550 Citation Bravo (PP-WMO), carrying singer Rey Vaqueiro and seven others, overran the runway while landing at Parelhas Airport (SDVZ) in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, during the early hours of Sunday, September 13.

The aircraft came to rest beyond the runway and caught fire, with both engines reported burning. Firefighters battled the blaze for approximately five hours.

All eight occupants — six passengers and two crew members — evacuated the aircraft. Some reportedly sustained minor injuries, but no serious injuries were reported.

The circumstances of the accident remain under investigation by Brazil’s CENIPA.

On the morning of September 11, 2001, Madeline Amy Sweeney, a thirty-five-year-old American Airlines flight attendant on Flight 11 from Boston to Los Angeles, used an Airfone to reach operations supervisor Michael Woodward after the cockpit went silent and the cabin was no longer under the crew’s control.

Instead of panicking, she started gathering information. She did not use the call to describe her own fear. She gave seat numbers, described the men who had taken the aircraft, reported wounded passengers and crew, and said a passenger had been stabbed.

Woodward later remembered a steady voice and precise detail. She identified Mohamed Atta among those involved. The line stayed open as the Boeing 767 turned toward New York. At 8:46 a.m. it struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Everyone aboard was killed.

Investigators treated her account as some of the first reliable information from inside the flight.

She left a husband and two children, Jack, four, and Anna, seven. She could not retake the aircraft. She could still say who was on it and what the cabin had become, and she kept saying it until the call ended.

Dans les derniers instants de sa vie, elle a calmement transmis des informations sur place, telles que l'absence de réponse depuis le cockpit, des passagers poignardés en classe affaires et la suspicion d'une libération de gaz toxique, tout en fournissant les numéros de sièges des pirates de l'air.

C'était le premier vol détourné à s'écraser sur le World Trade Center ce jour-là.
