I've been on Twitter for 15 years, and have collected many good friends I can share joys and sorrows with. So I'm going to stay on Xitter (X is "sh" in many languages) as long as I can. But I'm also:

@MikeFromHC Wow, thank you Mike! And today is actually my birthday – what a terrific birthday present!
I'm not here any more (I'm on Bluesky), but I didn't want to deactivate my account. I'm glad I didn't – when I saw the notification from you I came right over, and I'm so glad I did!
@IsabellaGhement@doclauravater@ryan3cs When my husband was terminal I closed my business to spend more time in hosp w/him & took over as much care as I could (getting blankets, water, etc). Head nurse was impressed & asked me to address the student-nurse class to give them the pt/family perspective. Was glad to do it.
So, I wasn't going to tweet here any more, but this is too important not to share. Hope it doesn't get taken down.
People keep trying to figure out why EIon is killing 💩er; apparently it's so he can take down the ÀDŁ with it. Read this:

@botelala Exactly. I've thought he may be hoping – possibly subconsciously – to bankrupt it to get out from under his 1 Billion a year debt service. I don't know how/whether that would impact his financing for separate projects like Space X and Boring, which are funded by venture caps.
Came back to share this because it's critically important. The changes apparently only apply to blue-check accts—for now. You know EIon will be coming for you soon.
I don't know how to do cross-platform posts, so here's a screenshot. Full link: https://t.co/q4T1u47yvV
@botelala I've thought about that & it's the only reason I'm posting here at all—I'm active only on bsky & mastodon. But just like tfg, Elmo says he'll do something, and then gauges reaction; if negative he doesn't do it. BUT…they're also whimsical—one day they say WTH and just do it.
@botelala My daughter is there, but every time over the years that I thought what the heck, how bad could it be, there's been another privacy scandal there. Now Xitter will be even worse.
Wish we'd gotten acquainted sooner. Come to the bright side, bsky and 🐘 are nicer than this place.
This will probably be the last Wordle I'll post here, as Elmo has gutted the privacy rules. I've avoided FB all these years due to privacy concerns, and Xitter will be much worse.
Please see my pinned tweet for where I am!

@TrevHotch I left a message with my Wordle tweet today that I probably won't be back, as Elmo has eliminated basically all privacy rules, including for dm's.
I'm mainly on Bluesky but also https://t.co/4hsWwq4o9C – flyaway (no number) on both, as per pinned tweet. I may lurk but not post😢
How can anyone who grew up during the Cold War, as many Republicans in the House did, support Russia in its effort to subjugate Ukraine? Putin is trying to rebuild the USSR, both geographically, and politically by bringing back Soviet-era laws. That Koolaid is poisoned, guys!
🚨BREAKING: Speaker McCarthy once again proves why he's the most unfit, cowardly House Speaker in history, rejecting the bipartisan Senate funding bill and citing a ridiculous rationale for it.
During a closed-door meeting, McCarthy refused to back the Senate's emergency funding, claiming the $12B aid for Ukraine as his sticking point.
This decision is catering to the growing anti-Ukraine sentiment within the MAGA base, some even supporting Russia's invasion.
McCarthy's demand for border security funds reflects the GOP's escalating fixation on the issue, and underscores his inability to lead.
Expressing doubt about House support, McCarthy hints that Republican extremists like Rep. Matt Gaetz are shaping the party's direction. “I don’t see the support in the House,” he said.
With a government shutdown looming in just four days, our military and economy hang in the balance, proving once again that Republicans are incapable of governing.
Who should shoulder the majority of the blame if and when the government is forced to shut down?
Skeptical me was skeptical, but <shudder> it's entirely real. Even the scholarly New Scientist was weirded out by this thing!

@QueenNCrimson@SouthpawJenn@Esqueer_ Yep. Now, Biden being Catholic made only a ripple next to the other issues.
I'm in my 70s, and I've never seen the political landscape as divided and vicious as it is now. It's insane.
