@adamtaggart They yell at the TV, perhaps, because they don't participate in the yelling on social media. There's a huge problem in our country where people are fixated and angry. A few Archie Bunkers screaming at the TV, are muted by the diarrhea online. I'm 71, BTW.
Bottom line: It’s a high-stakes trade.
Short-term lower rates for a few, paid for by depleting the systemic insurance for the many. It turns the backbone of our housing market into a $200B artificial stimulus fund.
The question is: Who pays when the "rainy day" actually arrives
The "Mortgage Rate" shell game explained: 🏡💸
Trump just directed Fannie/Freddie to buy $200B in mortgage bonds. The goal? Create "artificial demand" to force interest rates down for homebuyers.
By spending the cash reserves to zero, the admin is taking a massive gamble. 🎲
If the housing market dips or defaults rise, there’s no longer a $200B cushion. If the GSEs fail, the U.S. Treasury (you, the taxpayer) is legally on the hook to foot the bill. Again.
@MCCCANM When the engine separated, thrust carried it up/over the wing. This compromised the leading edge devices ( I don't know if they're called slats or leading edge flaps on an MD11). In addition to loss of power, the wing probably stalled. Heroic crew had no chance, unfortunately.
With hub and spoke system, airlines need the gate space. If there is a weather or traffic event things back up.
It's more complicated than a simple queue, although I have had the same thoughts, sitting in line during rush hour at Kennedy. We often shut engines down to save fuel as things changed.
