Foi esta a metamorfose a que assistimos nas ruas de Lisboa e do Porto durante esta madrugada. Durante o dia, são criaturas cheias de ternura, preocupadas com a habitação. À noite, quando a autoridade lhes recorda que a lei também se aplica aos ungidos revolucionários, o cordeirinho começa a perder a lã.

Aparecem as barricadas, a desobediência e os confrontos. Afinal, debaixo daquela lã tão fofinha, há caninos que ferram, da mesma laia dos que temos visto por essa Europa fora, em França ou na Alemanha.

⚠️Mas há aqui uma vigarice política bastante mais profunda. A habitação é uma causa legítima sequestrada por quem a transformou num pretexto para a agitação permanente. Porque, para a ala mais radical desta romaria revolucionária, o problema nunca foi apenas a falta de casas. É a economia aberta de mercado, é o capitalismo, é a propriedade privada, é a liberdade individual. É, no fundo, esta maçada civilizacional que permite a cada cidadão ser dono daquilo que é seu, sem ter de pedir autorização à asssembleia popular ou ao comité central.

O sonho destes vândalos é refundar a sociedade. De preferência, ressuscitar aquele maravilhoso modelo que prometeu libertar os povos e acabou, por onde passou, a distribuir miséria, escassez e repressão com uma invejável e ímpar igualdade. O socialismo tem esta particularidade fascinante de nunca ter funcionado porque nunca foi na verdade a implementação do verdadeiro socialismo.

➡️➡️A democracia, coitada, esta nossa pobre ingénua. Dá-lhes liberdade de expressão, de reunião, de manifestação e até o direito de defenderem a sua própria destruição. Eles aproveitam cada uma dessas liberdades para a desgastar, desafiar as instituições e transformar a autoridade democrática numa espécie de inimigo público. Querem todos os direitos que ela lhes oferece, mas têm uma dificuldade verdadeiramente patológica em aceitar os deveres que os acompanham.

Não confundamos, portanto, quem genuinamente luta por uma casa com quem utiliza essa luta para tentar provocar o caos e daí emergir um novo regime anti-democrático e autoritário.

1⃣Os primeiros querem as chaves de uma habitação.

2⃣Os segundos querem as chaves do país para mudar as fechaduras e decidir quem cá pode entrar, viver, ou sobreviver.

Ironia fina camaradas! Apresentam-se como vítimas de uma sociedade livre enquanto trabalham para impor uma em que ninguém teria a liberdade de fazer aquilo que eles próprios fazem hoje.

Do you know why in Israel we don't have riots of Muslims and "pro-Palestinians"? In spite of the fact that Arabs (Muslims and Christians) are 20% of Israeli population, more than in any country in Europe?

Because Arabs in Israel don't want to make Israel a Muslim country. They know very well what does it mean to live in Muslim country, especially under shariah laws, like they live in Gaza, for example. Not to have any rights or freedoms.

In Israel Arabs have all the rights like any other Israeli citizens, because Israel is a liberal democracy. Arabs (men and women) study in universities, work at any jobs in every field, there is huge amount of Arabs in medicine, for example. We have Arab judges, we have Arabs in the Knesset...

My personal example: very often I go to Arab doctors, and my kid's main class teacher is Arab.

Arabs in Israel have no reason to create chaos.

And no, most of them absolutely don't want "Palestine" (meaning radical Islamic state) to replace democratic Israel.

Three waves of ballistic missiles have been launched at Kyiv by Russian “humanitarians” since yesterday evening. They used 21 missiles. Unfortunately, numerous sites across the city have been hit and damaged: ordinary residential buildings, energy facilities, infrastructure at one of the railway stations and the metro, shopping malls, and businesses. Even a monastery is among the damaged sites. Our emergency services are working at all the affected locations. Twelve of our regions came under Russian attack overnight. In Kyiv and across the regions, 34 people were injured, including five children. As of now, two people have been confirmed killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones.

Almost immediately after another round of talks, Russia launched a pointed attack. This means there has been no real change in its attitude toward everything that is happening. It is important to keep trying to find the right solutions to end this war. But when Russia responds to negotiations with ballistic missiles, real pressure on Russia is needed to bring about different steps – steps toward ending the killing. Stronger air defenses and the rapid delivery of missiles, the ability to destroy ballistic missile launchers, sanctions over the war – all of this must be in place. I am grateful to everyone who sees the situation for what it is and acknowledges the reality. The aggressor deserves to be treated accordingly. Ukraine deserves support. People's lives deserve protection. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!

A man raised an Israeli flag at a demonstration of hundreds of people.

It happened yesterday in central Lisbon, during a protest officially called over the housing problem, yet filled with flags and slogans for Palestine. It only took one man — a priest — and a flag for him to be immediately attacked, insulted and forcibly removed from the square.

Any doubt about the nature of this demonstration was cleared. The causes — whether housing in Portugal or the conditions of schools in France — though real, are being used as a Trojan horse for other political interests. The conclusion is clear — only those who share the same political ideal are allowed to demonstrate.

And also that the press has favoured these genuine attacks on democracy and the rule of law, either by camouflaging the real objectives of the protests in its messaging, or by manipulating the published images, downplaying the massive presence of Palestinian flags and the escalating level of violence.

The episode of one man and one flag against hundreds was real, but it serves as the perfect parable of the times we live in.

I am not Jewish. But I am a proud Israeli citizen. I live in Tel Aviv. Despite the world having extremely opinionated views about the country I live in, few people I have come across on X (that don’t live here) know little of substance about Israel apart from their warped sense of history and reality. This is the first post of a series I will write entitled Everything You Think You Know About Israel is (Probably) Wrong. The points are not in any particular order. Spread the word.
Most Israelis (just over 50%) are not white. The devastating impact on European Jews of the Holocaust meant that the newly formed Israel in 1948 was largely populated by Jews fleeing persecution in Muslim-ruled countries predominantly in the Middle East and North Africa. These are known as Mizrahi Jews and when the State of Israel was formed they made up 80% of the Jewish population living here.
Jews have had a continuous presence in the land of Israel since around 1208 BCE, that’s 3,200 years — long before the creation of the state of Israel in 1948. The Muslim faith, in contrast, dates back 1,400 years (610 CE). Yes, when they lost majority rule in the 7th-century Muslim conquest they were not in the majority for centuries, but still lived in their ancestral homeland.
Arab terrorism against Jews existed before 1948. In 1929, for example, 67 Jews were killed in the Hebron massacre, attacked and slaughtered by the Arabs they lived and worked beside. My wife’s great-grandfather Ben-Zion Gershon (who was a local doctor that often treated the Arab community without accepting payment) was tortured, had both his eyes gouged out and was then murdered. This was after his daughter Esther was raped in front of him, and his wife Zahava had both arms chopped off and was left to die. This was just one of many similar massacres inflicted on Jews that day.

NAZA, le documentaire de Yuval Abraham et Rachel Szor produit par The Guardian, a reçu le Prix spécial du jury à Venise et vingt-cinq minutes d’ovation. Il sort en France depuis le 12 octobre. Sa thèse tient en un mot : génocide.

J’ai regardé ce film en juriste. Vingt-quatre témoins sans visage, sans grade, sans rien. Aucune frappe datée, aucune cible nommée, aucun document. Un chiffre, 500 morts civils anticipés pour une cible, lancé par une seule voix et démenti catégoriquement par l’armée. Des sous-titres qui ajoutent aux témoins ce qu’ils ne disent pas. Pas un juriste à l’écran, pas une règle citée, pas un mot sur le Hamas.

Surtout, le film porte dans son titre la réfutation de sa thèse. Nezek agavi, dommage collatéral, désigne l’estimation préalable des pertes civiles d’une attaque dirigée contre un objectif militaire. C’est l’article 57 du Protocole additionnel I.

Une armée qui compte les civils avant de frapper, qui avertit, qui évacue, puis qui compte ceux qui restent, ne décrit pas une entreprise d’extermination. Elle décrit un processus de ciblage, que l’on peut critiquer frappe par frappe, mais qui exclut la seule déduction raisonnable d’une intention de détruire un peuple, selon le critère fixé par la Cour internationale de Justice.

Distinction, proportionnalité, précautions, outils d’aide à la décision, intention génocidaire : j’ai repris chaque point avec les textes et la jurisprudence, de la CIJ au TPIY, de la Cour suprême d’Israël à la Cour européenne des droits de l’homme.
